Course description

1.  6th Joint Staff Talks (JST) between India and the Maldives were held in New Delhi on December 20, 2022. The meeting was conducted in a friendly, warm and extremely cordial atmosphere. Discussions focused on the ongoing and new initiatives under the ambit of existing bilateral defence cooperation mechanism of all the three services and further strengthening the engagements. The JST is a forum established to boost defence cooperation between India and the Maldives through annual talks at the strategic and operational levels between HQ IDS & MNDF.

Ø भारत और मालदीव के बीच छठी संयुक्त कर्मचारी वार्ता (JST) 20 दिसंबर, 2022 को नई दिल्ली में आयोजित की गई थी। यह बैठक एक मैत्रीपूर्ण, गर्मजोशी और बेहद सौहार्दपूर्ण वातावरण में आयोजित की गई थी। तीनों सेवाओं के वर्तमान द्विपक्षीय रक्षा सहयोग तंत्र के कार्य-क्षेत्र में चल रही और नई पहलों पर चर्चा हुई और संबंधों को और मजबूत किया गया। जेएसटी, मुख्यालय आईडीएस और एमएनडीएफ के बीच रणनीतिक और परिचालन स्तर पर वार्षिक वार्ता के माध्यम से भारत और मालदीव के बीच रक्षा सहयोग को प्रोत्साहन देने के लिए स्थापित एक मंच है।

2. ‘Arnala’, the first of 08 x ASW SWC Project, being built by GRSE for Indian Navy was launched on 20 Dec 22 at M/s L&T, Kattupalli, Chennai. She made her first contact with water of Bay of Bengal at the Launch Ceremony. The ship has been named Arnala to signify the strategic maritime importance accorded to the island of Arnala (located about 13 Km north of Vasai, Maharashtra) by the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Ø भारतीय नौसेना के लिए जीआरएसई द्वारा निर्मित आठ एएसडब्ल्यू एसडब्ल्यूसी प्रोजेक्ट में से पहले जहाज ‘अर्नाला’ 20 दिसंबर, 2022 का चेन्नई के मैसर्स एलएंडटी, कट्टुपल्ली में शुभारंभ किया गया है। जहाज के शुभारंभ कार्यक्रम में बंगाल की खाड़ी के पानी में इसे उतारा गया है। महान मराठा योद्धा, छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज द्वारा अर्नाला द्वीप (वसई, महाराष्ट्र से लगभग 13 किलोमीटर उत्तर में स्थित) को दिए गए रणनीतिक समुद्री महत्व को दर्शाने के लिए जहाज का नाम अर्नाला रखा गया है।

3.The Tamil Nadu government has launched the ‘Friends of Library’ scheme, wherein books will be personally provided to those who are unable to visit state-run libraries.  Accordingly, differently abled persons, senior citizens, children and hospital in-patients among others who cannot come to a library will benefit from the initiative. In its first phase, the scheme will cover 2,500 libraries including 31 district libraries.

Ø तमिलनाडु सरकार ने 'पुस्तकालय के मित्र' योजना प्रारम्भ की है, जिसमें किताबें व्यक्तिगत रूप से उन लोगों को प्रदान की जाएंगी जो राज्य द्वारा संचालित पुस्तकालयों में जाने में असमर्थ हैं। इस योजना के अंतर्गत, अलग-अलग सक्षम व्यक्ति, वरिष्ठ नागरिक, बच्चे और अस्पताल में भर्ती रोगी जो पुस्तकालय में नहीं आ सकते हैं, उन्हें इस पहल से लाभ होगा। अपने पहले चरण में, इस योजना में 31 जिला पुस्तकालयों सहित 2,500 पुस्तकालयों को शामिल किया जाएगा।

4.Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, an autonomous institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India has launched a programme to create Impact Leaders in the areas of Environmental-Social-Governance (ESG). The event was attended by 50 budding ESG Professionals who are senior corporate officials enrolled in the programme across the globe.

Ø भारतीय कॉर्पोरेट कार्य संस्थान; जो कॉरपोरेट कार्य मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के तत्वावधान में एक स्वायत्त संस्थान है, के द्वारा पर्यावरण-सामाजिक-शासन (ईएसजी) क्षेत्र में प्रभावशाली अग्रणी व्यक्ति (इम्पैक्ट लीडर) तैयार करने के लिए एक कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत की गई है। इस कार्यक्रम में 50 नवोदित ईएसजी पेशेवरों ने भाग लिया, जो कार्यक्रम में नामांकित विश्व भर में प्रख्यात वरिष्ठ कॉर्पोरेट अधिकारी हैं।

5. The fifth submarine of the Project – 75, Kalvari Class submarines, was delivered to the Indian Navy. Project – 75 includes indigenous construction of six submarines of Scorpene design. These submarines are being constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai, under collaboration with M/s Naval Group, France. Launched on 12 Nov 20, Vagir commenced the sea trials from 01 Feb 22 and she has completed all major trials including the weapon and sensor trials in the shortest time in comparison to the earlier submarines.

Ø परियोजना- 75 की पांचवीं पनडुब्बी; जो कलवरी श्रेणी की पनडुब्बी है, भारतीय नौसेना को सौंपी गई है। परियोजना - 75 में स्कॉर्पीन डिजाइन की छह पनडुब्बियों का स्वदेशी निर्माण शामिल है। इन पनडुब्बियों का निर्माण मैसर्स नेवल ग्रुप, फ्रांस के सहयोग से मझगांव डॉक शिपबिल्डर्स लिमिटेड (एमडीएल) मुंबई में किया जा रहा है। 12 नवंबर 2020 को लॉन्च की गई, वागीर ने 01 फरवरी 2022 से समुद्री परीक्षण प्रारम्भ किया था और यह इसने पहले की पनडुब्बियों की तुलना में कम से कम समय में हथियार और सेंसर परीक्षणों सहित सभी प्रमुख परीक्षणों को पूरा किया है।

6.Under the G20 presidency of India from December 01, 2022 to November 30, 2023, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is organizing Urban 20 event. In the process to organize Urban 20 event, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel unveiled logo, website, and social media handles of Urban-20 on December 19, 2022. Under the G20 presidency of India, Ahmedabad, a UNESCO World Heritage city, will host the U20 cycle. The first Sherpa meeting of Urban 20 event is scheduled to be held on February 09-10, 2023.

Ø 01 दिसंबर, 2022 से 30 नवंबर, 2023 तक भारत की G20 अध्यक्षता के अंतर्गत, आवास और शहरी मामलों का मंत्रालय ‘अर्बन 20’ कार्यक्रम आयोजित कर रहा है। ‘अर्बन 20’ कार्यक्रम आयोजित करने की प्रक्रिया में, गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र पटेल ने 19 दिसंबर, 2022 को अर्बन-20 के प्रतीक चिन्‍ह, वेबसाइट और सोशल मीडिया हैंडल का अनावरण किया है। भारत की G20 अध्यक्षता के अंतर्गत, यूनेस्को के विश्व धरोहर स्थल, अहमदाबाद, U20-चक्र की मेजबानी करेगा। ‘अर्बन 20’ इवेंट की पहली शेरपा मीटिंग 09-10 फरवरी, 2023 को आयोजित होने वाली है।

7.The Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs won the Platinum Icon in the Digital India Awards 2022 for their initiative “Data-Smart Cities: Empowering Cities through Data” under the ‘Data Sharing and Use for Socio Economic Development’ category. The award was announced on 19th December 2022. The Data-Smart Cities Initiative is a key step in creating a robust data ecosystem that enables evidence-based decision-making in cities.

Ø स्मार्ट सिटीज मिशन, आवास और शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय ने 'डेटा शेयरिंग एंड यूज फॉर सोशियो इकोनॉमिक डेवलपमेंट' श्रेणी के अंतर्गत अपनी पहल "डेटा-स्मार्ट सिटीज: एम्पावरिंग सिटीज़ थ्रू डेटा" के लिए डिजिटल इंडिया अवार्ड्स 2022 में प्लेटिनम आइकन जीता है। इस पुरस्कार की घोषणा 19 दिसंबर 2022 को की गई थी। डेटा-स्मार्ट सिटीज इनिशिएटिव एक मजबूत डेटा पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र बनाने में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है, जो शहरों में साक्ष्य-आधारित निर्णय लेने में सक्षम बनाता है।

8.The central board of the Reserve Bank reviewed the prevailing economic situation and challenges emanating from geopolitical developments. The 599th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took place in Kolkata under the chairmanship of Governor Shaktikanta Das. The board in its meeting reviewed the current economic situation, global and domestic challenges, including geopolitical developments, finance and trade. The board also discussed the activities of select central office departments and the draft report on the Trend and Progress of Banking in India, 2021-22.

Ø रिज़र्व बैंक के केंद्रीय बोर्ड ने वर्तमान आर्थिक स्थिति और भू-राजनीतिक घटनाक्रमों से उत्पन्न चुनौतियों की समीक्षा की। भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) के केंद्रीय निदेशक मंडल की 599वीं बैठक गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास की अध्यक्षता में कोलकाता में हुई। बोर्ड ने अपनी बैठक में वर्तमान आर्थिक स्थिति, वैश्विक और घरेलू चुनौतियों की समीक्षा की, जिसमें भू-राजनीतिक विकास, वित्त और व्यापार शामिल हैं। बोर्ड ने चुनिंदा केंद्रीय कार्यालय विभागों की गतिविधियों और भारत में 2021-22 में बैंकिंग की प्रवृत्ति और प्रगति पर मसौदा रिपोर्ट पर भी चर्चा की है।

9.The first Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF) meeting under India's G20 Presidency was held in virtual mode. The meeting was attended by Finance and Health representatives from G20 and Invited Countries as well as International Organizations. The meeting was co-chaired by Italy and Indonesia. The Bali Leaders’ Declaration 2022 extended the mandate of the Task Force to continue the collaborations between Finance and Health Ministries for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response. The 1st JFHTF enabled discussions on the mandates specified by the Bali Leaders’ Declaration.

Ø भारत की G20 अध्यक्षता के अंतर्गत पहली संयुक्त वित्त और स्वास्थ्य कार्य बल (JFHTF) की बैठक वर्चुअल मोड में आयोजित की गई है। इस बैठक में G20 और आमंत्रित देशों के साथ-साथ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगठनों के वित्त और स्वास्थ्य प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया। बैठक की सह-अध्यक्षता इटली और इंडोनेशिया ने की। बाली लीडर्स डिक्लेरेशन 2022 ने महामारी की रोकथाम, तैयारी और प्रतिक्रिया के लिए वित्त और स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालयों के बीच सहयोग जारी रखने के लिए टास्क फोर्स के जनादेश को विस्तारित किया। प्रथम JFHTF बैठक में बाली लीडर्स डिक्लेरेशन द्वारा निर्दिष्ट शासनादेशों पर विचार-विमर्श किया गया।

10.The Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister (EAC-PM) along with Institute for Competitiveness and Social Progress Imperative today released the Social Progress Index (SPI) for States and Districts of India as mandated by the EAC-PM. Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Goa stand out as the best-performing States in the index. The top three performing districts are Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Solan in Himachal Pradesh, and Aizawl in Mizoram.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री की आर्थिक सलाहकार परिषद (ईएसी-पीएम) ने प्रतिस्पर्धात्मकता और सामाजिक प्रगति अनिवार्य संस्थान के साथ ईएसी-पीएम द्वारा अनिवार्य भारत के राज्यों और जिलों के लिए सामाजिक प्रगति सूचकांक (एसपीआई) जारी किया है। इसके अनुसार, पुडुचेरी, लक्षद्वीप और गोवा सूचकांक में सबसे अच्छा प्रदर्शन करने वाले राज्य हैं। शीर्ष तीन प्रदर्शन करने वाले जिले हिमाचल प्रदेश में शिमला, हिमाचल प्रदेश में सोलन और मिजोरम में आइजोल हैं।
