1.     India conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with French Naval Ships in the North Atlantic Ocean on 29 and 30 July 2022. Successful conduct of these surface and aerial exercises symbolise the high degree of professionalism and interoperability that exists between the two navies.

 

2.     The gross GST revenue collected in the month of July 2022 is ₹1,48,995 crore. This is second highest revenue since introduction of GST. The revenues for the month of July 2022 are 28% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year of ₹ 1,16,393 crore. GST, an indirect tax, was introduced by 101st constitutional amendment act, 2016.

 

3.     Weightlifter Achinta Sheuli clinched a gold medal in the men’s 73 kg final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022. Achinta lifted a total of 313kg at the Games. It is the sixth medal for India in the competition and the third gold.

 

4.     American actress Nichelle Nichols, best known for her role in 1960s sci-fi TV series Star Trek, dies at the age of 89 years.

 

5.     Sanjay Arora, a Tamil Nadu-cadre IPS officer who oversaw the paramilitary ITBP, will assume control of the Delhi Police as Delhi Police commissioner. He is scheduled to retire in 2025. Sanjay Arora was named commissioner of the Delhi Police, replacing the previous Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana.

 

6.     The 4th Edition of India-Oman Joint Military Exercise ‘AL NAJAH-IV’ begins in Rajasthan at the Foreign Training Node of Mahajan Field Firing Ranges.

 

7.     Indian Armed Forces pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the Gunners in “Operation Vijay”, Point 5140 at Dras in the Kargil sector has been christened as Gun Hill.

 

8.     The organizers of the 2024 Paris Olympics unveiled “Games Wide Open” as their official slogan. The 2024 Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
