1.   The Odisha government launched Anaemia Mukta Lakhya Abhiyan (Amlan), a multi-departmental campaign to reduce anaemia or haemoglobin deficiency in the state. The health and family welfare, school and mass education, women and child development, mission shakti and ST and SC development departments will jointly roll out the initiative in 55,000 government and government aided schools besides 74000 anganwadis.

Ø ओडिशा सरकार ने राज्य में एनीमिया या हीमोग्लोबिन की कमी को कम करने के लिए एक बहु-विभागीय अभियान एनीमिया मुक्ता लाख अभियान (अमलान) प्रारम्भ किया है। स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण, स्कूल और जन शिक्षा, महिला और बाल विकास, मिशन शक्ति और एसटी और एससी विकास विभाग संयुक्त रूप से 55,000 सरकारी और सरकारी सहायता प्राप्त स्कूलों के साथ-साथ 74000 आंगनवाड़ियों में इस पहल को आयोजित करेंगे।

2.     Nai Chetana, a gender campaign launched under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission in all States, is off to a start in Kerala too under the umbrella of the Kudumbashree Mission. The campaign, which began on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, aims at equipping women to recognise and prevent violence and making them aware of their rights.

Ø नई चेतना, सभी राज्यों में राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण आजीविका मिशन के अंतर्गत प्रारम्भ किया गया एक महिला आधारित-अभियान, कुदुम्बश्री मिशन की छत्रछाया में केरल में भी प्रारम्भ होने वाला है। महिलाओं के खिलाफ हिंसा के उन्मूलन के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस पर प्रारम्भ हुए अभियान का उद्देश्य, महिलाओं को हिंसा को पहचानने और रोकने और साथ-साथ उन्हें अपने अधिकारों के बारे में जागरूक करने के लिए तैयार करना है।

3.     India will send a helicopter unit to the UN peacekeeping operations in Mali, which is facing with a crisis as several countries have withdrawn or announced plans to withdraw from it. Bangladesh and Pakistan will each be sending an armed helicopter unit to the operation known as Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). MINUSMA, set up in 2013, has 17,622 personnel. MINUSMA is one of the deadliest operations having claimed the lives of 292 peacekeepers.

4.     World AIDS Day is commemorated every year on December 1 globally. According to the UNAIDS World AIDS Day report 2022, Dangerous Inequalities, there are inequalities blocking the end of AIDS. This has put millions of lives at stake. There are only eight years left before 2030, the time by which the United Nations has set the goal of eliminating AIDS as a global health threat. World AIDS Day, adopted in 1988, was the first-ever international day for global health. This year’s theme for World AIDS Day is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV.”

Ø विश्व एड्स दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष 1 दिसंबर को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। इस बीमारी से लाखों लोगों का जीवन संकट में है। 2030 के लक्षित वर्ष से पहले केवल आठ वर्ष बचे हैं, जिस समय तक संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य खतरे के रूप में एड्स को खत्म करने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया है। विश्व एड्स दिवस, 1988 में निर्धारित किया गया था, जो कि वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य के लिए पहला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस था। विश्व एड्स दिवस के लिए इस वर्ष की थीम "पुटिंग अवरसेल्फ टू द टेस्ट: अचीविंग इक्विटी टू एंड एचआईवी" है।

5.     Commemorating the day one of the most significant space missions to Mars was launched, November 28 is marked as Red Planet Day. On this day in 1964, the United States launched the space probe Mariner 4 on a course towards Mars, which it flew past in July 1965, sending back pictures of the red planet. This was the first time that a spacecraft undertook the first flyby of the red planet, becoming the first-ever spacecraft to take close-up photographs of another planet.

6.     The Border Security Force (BSF), India’s first line of defence, is set to celebrate its 58th Raising Day 01st December. It was on December 1, 1965 that the first sector of the Punjab Frontier of the BSF was raised with its headquarters in Jalandhar. The Western Frontier initially comprised of Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat and with its headquarters at Jalandhar. Ashwani Kumar was its first Inspector General. During 1972, Sector Headquarters Faridkot (now Sector HQ Abohar) was created. Sector Headquarter Gurdaspur and Ferozepur were raised in 1988.

7.     Bharat Biotech’s intranasal Covid-19 vaccine iNCOVACC has received the Indian drug regulator’s nod to be used as a heterologous booster (a mix-and-match dose after the primary dose). iNCOVACC has got approval for restricted use in emergency situations on those aged 18 years and above, for heterologous booster after two doses of either Covishield or Covaxin. This nasal vaccine becomes the second-approved Covid-19 vaccine in India, after Biological E’s Corbevax, which can be used as a mix-and-match booster shot.

8.     Australia's Great Barrier Reef should be added to a list of "in danger" World Heritage sites, according to UN experts who warned the fading wonder has been "significantly impacted" by climate change. The Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia's premier tourist drawcards and putting it on the in-danger list could substantially tarnish its allure for international visitors. It first raised the alarm about the reef's deterioration in 2010.

9.  The Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has approved the Himalayan Yak as a 'food animal'. Food Animals are those that are raised and used for food production or consumption by humans. The NRC-Yak had in 2021 submitted a proposal to the FSSAI, for considering the yak as a food animal.  Traditionally, yaks are reared under transhumance system which is primitive, unorganized and full of hardship.

Ø भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण (FSSAI) ने हिमालयी याक को 'खाद्य पशु' के रूप में स्वीकृति दे दी है। खाद्य पशु वे हैं, जिन्हें मनुष्यों द्वारा पाला जाता है और खाद्य उत्पादन या उपभोग के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है। एनआरसी-याक ने 2021 में याक को एक खाद्य पशु के रूप में मानने के लिए एफएसएसएआई को एक प्रस्ताव प्रस्तुत किया था। परंपरागत रूप से, याक का ट्रांसहुमेंस सिस्टम (पशुओ का मौसमी चरागह-परिवर्तन) के अंतर्गत पालन-पोषण किया जाता है जो आदिम, असंगठित और कठिनाई से भरा होता है।

10.  Former Health Secretary Preeti Sudan has been appointed as a member of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Sudan, a 1983 batch (retired) IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, will be administered the oath of office of the UPSC member on Tuesday, the official said. She superannuated as the health secretary in July 2020. Sudan also served in Women and Child Development and Defence Ministries.

Ø पूर्व स्वास्थ्य सचिव प्रीति सूदन को संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) का सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया है। आंध्र प्रदेश कैडर के 1983 बैच के (सेवानिवृत्त) आईएएस अधिकारी सूदन को यूपीएससी सदस्य के पद की शपथ दिलाई जाएगी। वह जुलाई 2020 में स्वास्थ्य सचिव के रूप में सेवानिवृत्त हुईं थीं। सूदन ने महिला एवं बाल विकास और रक्षा मंत्रालयों में भी कार्य किया है।
