1.  The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has signed an MoU with Social Alpha, a multistage innovation curation and venture development platform for science and technology start-ups, to launch SpaceTech Innovation Network (SpIN). SpIN is India’s first dedicated platform for innovation, curation, and venture development for the burgeoning space entrepreneurial ecosystem.

2.Dina Boluarte was sworn in as Peru's new leader, making her the first female President of the Latin American country. Peru has a history of political unrest and infighting, and despite this, the grit and determination of Dina Boluarte got her the mantle to lead the country. Keiko Fujimori, daughter of Alberto Fujimori, the earlier President, had tried to become the head of the government three times and failed.

3.Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided that no charges will be levied for SMS and Cell Broadcast - Alerts or messages sent either during disaster or prior to notification of disaster or after expiry of disaster. TRAI took the decision considering the significance of alerts and messages sent as per direction issued under the Disaster Management Act.

Ø भारतीय दूरसंचार नियामक प्राधिकरण (ट्राई) ने निर्णय लिया है कि आपदा के दौरान या आपदा की अधिसूचना से पहले या आपदा की समाप्ति के बाद भेजे गए एसएमएस और सेल प्रसारण-अलर्ट या संदेशों के लिए कोई शुल्क नहीं लिया जाएगा। ट्राई ने आपदा प्रबंधन अधिनियम के अंतर्गत जारी निर्देश के अनुसार भेजे गए अलर्ट और संदेशों के महत्व को देखते हुए यह निर्णय लिया है।

4.  Sixteen-year-old Aditya Mittal has become India’s 77th chess Grandmaster during an ongoing tournament in Spain. He drew the game against Spain’s No.1 Francisco Vallejo Pons to achieve the feat. To become a GM, a player has to secure three GM norms and cross the live rating of 2,500 ELO points. Mittal is also the fifth Indian to achieve the GM title in 2022 after Bharath Subramaniyam, Rahul Srivatshav, V Pranav V and Pranav Anand.

5.The Meghalaya government in partnership with startup TechEagle has unveiled Asia's first drone delivery hub and network which is aimed at providing universal access to healthcare for the people in the state. The project is aimed at delivering vital supplies like drugs, diagnostic samples, vaccines, blood and blood components quickly and safely to different regions of the state using a dedicated drone delivery network.

6.International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime is commemorated on December 9 of every year around the world. On December 9, 1948, the United Nations adopted the first human rights treaty, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (the “Genocide Convention”). 2022 marks its 74th anniversary. The United Nations General Assembly with a resolution in 2015 adopted December 9 as the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.

Ø विश्व भर में प्रत्येक वर्ष 9 दिसंबर को नरसंहार के अपराध के पीड़ितों और इस अपराध की रोकथाम के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस मनाया जाता है। 9 दिसंबर, 1948 को, संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने पहली मानवाधिकार संधि, नरसंहार के अपराध की रोकथाम और सजा ("नरसंहार सम्मेलन") को अपनाया था। वर्ष 2022, इसकी 74वीं वर्षगांठ है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 2015 में एक संकल्प के साथ 9 दिसंबर को नरसंहार के अपराध और इस अपराध की रोकथाम के पीड़ितों के स्मरणोत्सव और सम्मान के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस के रूप में अपनाया था।

7. A six-week campaign was started in the firstweek of November with an objective to highlight the role of key stakeholders and individuals in preventing and countering corruption. Each week focuses on several topics including education & youth, sport, gender, the private sector, COVID-19, and international cooperation. International Anti-Corruption Day is observed on December 9 globally to raise awareness on the importance of a corruption-free society. This year, the theme for International Anti-Corruption Day is “Uniting the world against corruption.”

Ø भ्रष्टाचार को रोकने और उसका मुकाबला करने में प्रमुख हितधारकों और व्यक्तियों की भूमिका को उजागर करने के उद्देश्य से नवंबर के पहले सप्ताह में छह सप्ताह का अभियान प्रारम्भ किया गया है। प्रत्येक सप्ताह में; शिक्षा और युवा, खेल, लिंग, निजी क्षेत्र, COVID-19 और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहयोग सहित कई विषयों पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया जा रहा है। भ्रष्टाचार मुक्त समाज के महत्व के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए विश्व स्तर पर 9 दिसंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी दिवस मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी दिवस की थीम "भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ दुनिया को एकजुट करना" है।

8.The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, known as Conference of Parties (COP-15) commenced in Montreal, Canada on 7 December 2022. The two weeklong conference (7-19 December 2022) was originally scheduled to be held in Kunming, China in October but was shifted to Montreal, Canada due to covid situation in China.  It is a multilateral treaty which was signed by the countries at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. It came into force on 29 December 1993. At present 194 countries are its signatories.

Ø जैविक विविधता पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सम्मेलन, जिसे पार्टियों के सम्मेलन (COP-15) के रूप में जाना जाता है, 7 दिसंबर 2022 को मॉन्ट्रियल, कनाडा में प्रारम्भ हुआ है। दो सप्ताह तक चलने वाला यह सम्मेलन (7-19 दिसंबर 2022) मूल रूप से चीन के कुनमिंग में अक्टूबर माह में आयोजित होने वाला था। लेकिन चीन में कोविड की स्थिति के कारण इसे मॉन्ट्रियल, कनाडा में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था। यह एक बहुपक्षीय संधि है जिस पर 1992 में रियो डी जनेरियो में पृथ्वी शिखर सम्मेलन में देशों द्वारा हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे। यह 29 दिसंबर 1993 को लागू हुआ था। वर्तमान में 194 देश इसके हस्ताक्षरकर्ता हैं।

9.Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the setting up of a separate Divyang department for the welfare of differently-abled people with a fund allocation of Rs 1,143 crore. Maharashtra is the first state to have such a department. The government has created 2,063 posts for the new department which will formulate policies for the welfare of the disabled by taking into consideration views of the stakeholders.

10. An Indian-origin teacher in Australia has received the 2022 Prime Minister's Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in secondary schools. Melbourne-based Veena Nair, who is ViewBank College's Head of Technology and STEAM project leader, has been awarded for demonstrating practical application of STEAM to students, and how they can use their skills to make a real impact in the world. As a leading educator in STEAM, Nair has more than 20 years of experience in teaching science-based subjects across India, the United Arab Emirates, and now Australia.
