1.For the first time in the country, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has specified the identity standards for Basmati Rice (including Brown Basmati Rice, Milled Basmati Rice, Parboiled Brown Basmati Rice and Milled Parboiled Basmati Rice). As per these standards, Basmati rice shall possess natural fragrance characteristic of basmati rice and be free from artificial colouring, polishing agents and artificial fragrances. The standards are aimed at establishing fair practices in the trade of Basmati rice and protect consumer interest, both domestically and globally. These standards will be enforced w.e.f 1st August, 2023.

Ø देश में पहली बार भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण (एफएसएसएआई) ने बासमती चावल (ब्राउन बासमती चावल, मिल्ड बासमती चावल, पारबॉयल्ड ब्राउन बासमती चावल और मिल्ड पारबॉयल्ड बासमती चावल सहित) के लिए पहचान मानकों को निर्दिष्ट किया है। इन मानकों के अनुसार बासमती चावल में चावल की प्राकृतिक सुगंध विशेषता होनी चाहिए और यह कृत्रिम रंग, पॉलिशिंग एजेंटों और कृत्रिम सुगंधों से मुक्त होगा। ऐसे मानकों का उद्देश्य बासमती चावल के व्यापार में उचित व्यवहार स्थापित करना और घरेलू और वैश्विक स्तर पर उपभोक्ताओं के हितों की रक्षा करना है। यह मानक 01 अगस्त, 2023 से प्रभावी होंगे।

2.  Recently, Socialist leader and former Union Minister Sharad Yadav passed away.  Sharad Yadav, 74, was born in July, 1947 in Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh. His long political career saw him plunge into the anti-Emergency movement under Jayprakash Narayan and hold strongly to his socialist roots throughout. His election from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh in a bypoll in 1974 is considered a landmark in the anti-Emergency struggle going on at that time.

Ø समाजवादी नेता और पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री शरद यादव का हाल ही में निधन हो गया है। 74 वर्षीय शरद यादव का जन्म जुलाई, 1947 में मध्य प्रदेश के होशंगाबाद में हुआ था। उनके लंबे राजनीतिक करियर में उन्होंने जयप्रकाश नारायण के नेतृत्व में आपातकाल विरोधी आंदोलन में भाग लिया था और अपनी समाजवादी जड़ों को मजबूती से स्थापित किया था। वर्ष 1974 में मध्य प्रदेश के जबलपुर से एक उपचुनाव में उनका चुनाव विजयी हो जाना, तत्कालीन आपातकाल विरोधी संघर्ष में एक मील का पत्थर माना जाता है।

3. This year’s National Youth Day, also known as Vivekananda Jayanti, was celebrated today in New Delhi in a befitting manner by giving National Awards to 82 best Agripreneurs who were trained under the Central Sector Scheme – Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business (AC&ABC) of Govt. of India. Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business (AC&ABC), a mega flagship Scheme of Govt. of India implemented in the country in collaboration with NABARD since 2002, aims to transform unemployed youth into self-employed Agripreneurs through a 45 days free residential training at different parts of the country with a provision for availing loan and subsidy from the banks.

Ø वर्ष 2023 में राष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस; जिसे विवेकानंद जयंती के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, नई दिल्ली में 82 सर्वश्रेष्ठ कृषि-उद्यमियों; जिन्हें भारत सरकार के केंद्रीय क्षेत्र की योजना - कृषि-क्लीनिक और कृषि-व्यवसाय (एसी और एबीसी) के अंतर्गत प्रशिक्षित किया गया था, को राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार प्रदान करते हुए मनाया गया है। एग्री-क्लीनिक और एग्री-बिजनेस (एसी और एबीसी), भारत सरकार की एक मेगा फ्लैगशिप योजना है और इसे भारत सरकार ने वर्ष 2002 से नाबार्ड के सहयोग से देश में लागू किया था, जिसका उद्देश्य देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में बैंकों से ऋण और सब्सिडी प्राप्त करने के प्रावधान के साथ 45 दिनों के मुफ्त आवासीय प्रशिक्षण के माध्यम से बेरोजगार युवाओं को स्व-नियोजित कृषि-उद्यमी में बदलना है।

4. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal visited Washington D.C. between 10-11 January 2023 to participate in the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the India-U.S. Trade Policy Forum. The Ministers underlined the significance of the TPF in forging robust bilateral trade ties and enhancing the bilateral economic relationship to benefit working people in both countries.

Ø केंद्रीय वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्री श्री पीयूष गोयल, भारत-यू.एस. व्यापार नीति फोरम की 13वीं मंत्रिस्तरीय बैठक में भाग लेने के लिए 10-11 जनवरी 2023 के बीच वाशिंगटन डीसी की यात्रा पर गए हैं। मंत्रियों ने दोनों देशों में कामकाजी लोगों को लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए मजबूत द्विपक्षीय व्यापार संबंधों को बनाने और द्विपक्षीय आर्थिक संबंधों को बढ़ाने में टीपीएफ के महत्व को रेखांकित किया।

5.Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya chaired the eighth meeting of Mission Steering Group (MSG) of National Health Mission (NHM). The MSG is the apex decision-making body of NHM that takes decisions on policies and program implementation under the Mission. The 8th MSG of the NHM discussed various agenda points including confirmation of minutes of last meeting of the MSG. The Action Taken Report on decisions taken during the 7th meeting of the MSG were discussed and it was decided to implement a saturated and thorough approach that encompasses all aspects of health and has a noteworthy reach and impact on the community. 

Ø केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्री डॉ. मनसुख मंडाविया ने राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन (एनएचएम) के मिशन संचालन समूह (एमएसजी) की आठवीं बैठक की अध्यक्षता की है। एमएसजी; एनएचएम की शीर्ष निर्णय लेने वाली संस्था है, जो मिशन के अंतर्गत नीतियों और कार्यक्रम कार्यान्वयन पर निर्णय लेती है। एनएचएम के 8वें एमएसजी बैठक में एमएसजी की पिछली बैठक के कार्यवृत्त की पुष्टि सहित विभिन्न एजेंडा बिंदुओं पर चर्चा की गई है। एमएसजी की 7वीं बैठक के दौरान लिए गए निर्णयों पर की गई कार्रवाई रिपोर्ट पर चर्चा की गई और यह निर्णय लिया गया कि एक संतृप्त और समग्र दृष्टिकोण को लागू किया जाए, जिसमें स्वास्थ्य के सभी पहलुओं को शामिल किया गया हो और जिसकी समुदाय पर उल्लेखनीय पहुंच और प्रभाव हो।

6.The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 26th National Youth Festival in Hubbali, Karnataka. The programme has been organised on National Youth Day, which is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, to honour and cherish his ideals, teachings and contributions. The theme of the festival is ‘Viksit Yuva - Viksit Bharat’ and it brings diverse cultures from all parts of the country on a common platform and unites the participants in the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. 

Ø प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कर्नाटक के हुबली में 26वें राष्ट्रीय युवा महोत्सव का उद्घाटन किया। यह कार्यक्रम स्वामी विवेकानंद की जयंती पर मनाए जाने वाले राष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस पर उनके आदर्शों, शिक्षाओं और योगदानों को सम्मान देने और संरक्षित के लिए आयोजित किया गया है। इस महोत्सव का विषय 'विकसित युवा - विकसित भारत' है और यह देश के सभी हिस्सों से विविध संस्कृतियों को एक ही मंच पर लाता है और प्रतिभागियों को एक भारत, श्रेष्ठ भारत की भावना से जोड़ता है।

7.National Commission for Protection of Child Rights is celebrating its 18th Foundation Day. To fully dedicate this occasion to the children, a Quiz was launched by the Commission on the occasion of National Youth Day (Swami Vivekananda Jayanti) on 12th January, 2023. National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (hereinafter referred to as the Commission) is a statutory body constituted under Section 3 of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 to protect the child rights and other related matters in the Country.

Ø राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग अपना 18वां स्थापना दिवस मना रहा है। इस अवसर को पूरी तरह से बच्चों को समर्पित करने के लिए, आयोग द्वारा 12 जनवरी, 2023 को राष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस (स्वामी विवेकानंद जयंती) के अवसर पर एक प्रश्नोत्तरी का शुभारंभ किया गया। राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग (इसके बाद आयोग के रूप में संदर्भित) देश में बाल अधिकारों और अन्य संबंधित मामलों की रक्षा के लिए बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग (CPCR) अधिनियम, 2005 की धारा 3 के तहत गठित एक वैधानिक निकाय है।

8.     Rural Electrification Corporation Limited inked strategic MoUs in the backdrop of the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023. The first MoU was signed for system improvement works, technology upgradation, renovation & modernization etc. The second MoU was inked for financial assistance for renewable energy projects covering the development of renewable energy parks/projects, and/or associated infrastructure including power evacuation.  

Ø ग्रामीण विद्युतीकरण निगम लिमिटेड ने मध्य प्रदेश वैश्विक निवेशक शिखर सम्मेलन 2023 की पृष्ठभूमि में रणनीतिक समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। इसके अंतर्गत पहले समझौता ज्ञापन का उद्देश्य आगामी सारणी और अमरकंटक ताप विद्युत परियोजनाओं, प्रणालीगत सुधार कार्यों, प्रौद्योगिकी उन्नयन, नवीनीकरण तथा आधुनिकीकरण करना है। दूसरा समझौता, आरईसी अक्षय ऊर्जा पार्कों/परियोजनाओं के विकास और बिजली वितरण सहित संबंधित बुनियादी ढांचे को कवर करने वाली नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं हेतु वित्तीय सहायता उपलब्ध कराना निर्धारित किया गया है।

9.Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) has given his consent to a Bill providing 30 per cent horizontal reservation to domiciled women of the state in government jobs. Uttarakhand Public Services (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Bill, 2022 was passed by the state assembly on November 29 last year. The Bill seeks to provide 30 per cent reservation to them in government jobs in order to ensure social justice, equality of opportunity, improvement in living standards and gender equality in public planning.

Ø उत्तराखंड के राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह (सेवानिवृत्त) ने सरकारी नौकरियों में राज्य की अधिवासित महिलाओं को 30 प्रतिशत क्षैतिज आरक्षण प्रदान करने वाले विधेयक पर अपनी सहमति प्रदान कर दी है। ‘उत्तराखंड लोक सेवा (महिलाओं के लिए क्षैतिज आरक्षण) विधेयक, 2022’ राज्य विधानसभा द्वारा पिछले वर्ष 29 नवंबर को पारित किया गया था। सामाजिक न्याय, अवसर की समानता, जीवन स्तर में सुधार और सार्वजनिक नियोजन में लैंगिक समानता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए यह विधेयक सरकारी नौकरियों में महिलाओं को 30 प्रतिशत आरक्षण प्रदान करेगा।

10.Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Annual Cultural Festival Saarang will be conducted completely in physical mode this year with a slew of diverse events planned on campus. This year will be the 28th Edition of the Saarang, which is one of the largest student-run festivals. Saarang 2023 will feature nearly 100 events between the 11th and 15th January 2023 and is expected to attract a footfall of over 80,000 from over 500 colleges across the country. The theme for Saarang 2023 is ‘Mystic Hues’ which celebrates how intertwined colours are with culture and traditions.

Ø भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान मद्रास (IIT मद्रास) वार्षिक सांस्कृतिक उत्सव सारंग इस वर्ष पूरी तरह से भौतिक माध्यम में आयोजित किया जाएगा, जिसमें परिसर में विविध कार्यक्रमों की योजना बनाई गई है। इस वर्ष सारंग का 28वां संस्करण आयोजित होगा, जो छात्रों द्वारा संचालित सबसे बड़े उत्सवों में से एक है। सारंग 2023 में 11 से 15 जनवरी 2023 के बीच लगभग 100 कार्यक्रम होंगे और देश भर के 500 से अधिक कॉलेजों से 80,000 से अधिक लोगों आएंगे। सारंग 2023 की थीम 'मिस्टिक ह्यूज' है, जो इस विषय पर केन्द्रित है कि रंग संस्कृति और परंपराओं के साथ कैसे जुड़े हुए हैं।
