1.Young Rudrankksh Patil on Friday won gold in men's 10m air rifle event in the ISSF World Championship here, becoming only the second Indian to achieve the feat after the legendary Abhinav Bindra. Patil also secured a 2024 Paris Olympics quota for the country in the process.

Ø युवा रुद्राक्ष पाटिल ने आईएसएसएफ विश्व चैम्पियनशिप में पुरुषों की 10 मीटर एयर राइफल स्पर्धा में स्वर्ण पदक जीता है, और इस प्रकार वह अभिनव बिंद्रा के बाद यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाले दूसरे भारतीय बन गए हैं। पाटिल ने इस उपलब्धि के साथ ही देश के लिए 2024 पेरिस ओलंपिक कोटा भी हासिल किया है।

2. Actor Robbie Coltrane, who portrayed Hagrid in the Harry Potter franchise, passed away on Oct. 14. He was 72. Coltrane also played a former KGB agent-turned-Russian mafia boss in two James Bond films -- "Goldeneye" (1995) and "The World Is Not Enough" (1999) -- with Pierce Brosnan.

3. India ranked 107 out of 121 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2022 with its child wasting rate at 19.3 per cent, being the highest in the world. The Global Hunger Index (GHI) is a tool for comprehensively measuring and tracking hunger at global, regional, and national levels. In Asia, Afghanistan with a rank of 109 is the only country behind India. Neighbouring countries - Pakistan (99), Bangladesh (84), Nepal (81) and Sri Lanka (64) have all fared better than India. In 2021, India ranked 101 out of 116 countries while in 2020 the country was placed at 94th position.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone for a bulk drug park to be set up in Haroli constituency of Una district. He also inaugurated Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Saloh village, Haroli, which would come up in Una district at the cost of Rs 128 crore. Earlier, the Prime Minister flagged off the inaugural run of the new Vande Bharat Express which would run between Amb Andaura in Una and New Delhi, from Una Railway station.

5. India Women defeated Sri Lanka Women by eight wickets in their Women's Asia Cup 2022 final, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. Chasing a target of 66 runs, India cruised to 71 for two in 8.3 overs. Initially, Sri Lanka were crushed by Indian bowlers and could only post 65 for nine in 20 overs.

6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes for former president APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary on Saturday. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was one of India's leading scientists, he wrote some bestselling books. He was India's president between 2002-07 and was considered a statesman. He was also called the "People's President". Kalam contributed to the development of the country in different spheres. As an aerospace scientist, Kalam worked with India's two major space research organisations - Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Ø प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पूर्व राष्ट्रपति ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम की जयंती पर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि दी। डॉ०  एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम भारत के अग्रणी वैज्ञानिकों में से एक थे, उन्होंने कुछ बेस्टसेलिंग किताबें लिखीं। वह 2002-07 के बीच भारत के राष्ट्रपति थे और उन्हें एक महान राजनेता माना जाता था। उन्हें "पीपुल्स प्रेसिडेंट" भी कहा जाता था। कलाम ने विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में देश के विकास में योगदान दिया था। एक एयरोस्पेस वैज्ञानिक के रूप में, कलाम ने भारत के दो प्रमुख अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठनों - रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (DRDO) और भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) के साथ काम किया था।

7. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) signed Memorandum of Understanding for setting up the testing facility for dietary supplements. This MoU will benefit athletes and athlete-support personnel by educating and spreading awareness about inadvertent doping due to prohibited substances present in nutritional supplements. This facility being established at NFSU will help the stakeholders, not only in the country but also in the entire region.

Ø युवा मामले और खेल मंत्रालय (एमवाईएएस), भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण (एफएसएसएआई) और राष्ट्रीय फोरेंसिक विज्ञान विश्वविद्यालय (एनएफएसयू) ने आहार पूरक के लिए परीक्षण सुविधा स्थापित करने के लिए समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किया है। इस समझौता ज्ञापन से एथलीटों और एथलीट-समर्थन कर्मियों को पोषक तत्वों की खुराक में वर्तमान निषिद्ध पदार्थों के कारण अनजाने में डोपिंग के बारे में शिक्षित और जागरूकता फैलाने से लाभ होगा। एनएफएसयू में स्थापित की जा रही इस सुविधा से न केवल देश में , अपितु पूरे क्षेत्र में हितधारकों को सहायता मिलेगी।

8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022 at Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. More than 13 thousand farmers from across the country and around one thousand five hundred Agri Startups will participate in the conference. More than one crore farmers, from various institutions, are also expected to attend the event virtually. The conference will also witness participation of researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Mr Modi will also release the 12th installment amount of 16 thousand crore rupees under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi through Direct Benefit Transfer. Under the scheme, eligible farmer families are provided a benefit of six thousand rupees per year in three equal installments of two thousand rupees each.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी नई दिल्ली में भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान में पीएम किसान सम्मान सम्मेलन 2022 का उद्घाटन करेंगे। इस सम्मेलन में देश भर से 13 हजार से ज्यादा किसान और करीब एक हजार पांच सौ कृषि स्टार्टअप हिस्सा लेंगे। इस कार्यक्रम में विभिन्न संस्थानों के एक करोड़ से अधिक किसानों के भी वर्चुअल रूप से भाग लेने की उम्मीद है। सम्मेलन में शोधकर्ताओं, नीति निर्माताओं और अन्य हितधारकों की भागीदारी भी देखी जाएगी। श्री मोदी प्रधानमंत्री किसान सम्मान निधि के तहत 16 हजार करोड़ रुपये की 12वीं किस्त की राशि प्रत्यक्ष लाभ अंतरण के माध्यम से भी जारी करेंगे। योजना के अंतर्गत पात्र किसान परिवारों को दो-दो हजार रुपये की तीन समान किश्तों में छह हजार रुपये प्रति वर्ष का लाभ प्रदान किया जाता है।

9. The 5th Assembly of International Solar Alliance (ISA) will begin in New Delhi under India’s presidentship. Participants from 109 countries will be sharing their experiences towards a low-carbon economy through promotion of solar energy at the 4-day event. The Assembly is the apex decision-making body of International Solar Alliance makes decisions concerning the implementation of the ISA’s Framework Agreement. The Assembly meets annually at the ministerial level at the ISA’s seat.

Ø अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सौर गठबंधन (आईएसए) की 5वीं सभा भारत की अध्यक्षता में नई दिल्ली में प्रारम्भ होगी। 4 दिवसीय आयोजन में 109 देशों के प्रतिभागी सौर ऊर्जा को प्रोत्साहन देने के माध्यम से कम कार्बन वाली अर्थव्यवस्था की दिशा में अपने अनुभव साझा करेंगे। यह असेंबली, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सौर गठबंधन की सर्वोच्च निर्णय लेने वाली संस्था है; जो आईएसए के फ्रेमवर्क समझौते के कार्यान्वयन से संबंधित निर्णय लेती है। यह असेंबली आईएसए मुख्यालय पर मंत्रिस्तरीय स्तर पर वार्षिक रूप से मिलती है।

10. On 16th October 2022, 19-year-old Indian grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi defeated the reigning five-time World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen in round seven of the preliminaries of the Aimchess Rapid online chess tournament. This is the first victory of Erigaisi over Norwegian Carlsen. Erigaisi had earlier lost to Carlsen in the Julius Baer Generation Cup final in September. The other Indian players in the fray, Gujrathi, Aditya Mittal, and Harikrishna, are in the 10th, 11th, and 15th spots after eight rounds of the 15-round preliminary phase.

Ø 16 अक्टूबर 2022 को, 19 वर्षीय भारतीय ग्रैंडमास्टर अर्जुन एरिगैसी ने एमचेस रैपिड ऑनलाइन शतरंज टूर्नामेंट के शुरुआती दौर में पांच बार के विश्व शतरंज चैंपियन मैग्नस कार्लसन को हराया है। नॉर्वेजियन कार्लसन पर एरीगैसी की यह पहली जीत है। एरीगैसी इससे पहले सितंबर में जूलियस बेयर जेनरेशन कप फाइनल में कार्लसन से हार गए थे। अन्य भारतीय खिलाड़ी गुजराती, आदित्य मित्तल और हरिकृष्णा 15 राउंड के प्रारंभिक चरण के आठ राउंड के बाद 10वें, 11वें और 15वें स्थान पर हैं।
