1. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Dr Jitendra Singh has launched the “Geospatial Hackathon”. Hackathon will promote Innovation and StartUps in India’s Geospatial ecosystem.  Startups in new emerging technologies are key to India’s future economy. “Geospatial Hackathon” will end on 10th March 2023 and there will be Two Sets of Challenges- A research Challenge and a Startp-Up Challenge to find out 4 winners for the Best Solutions to the Geospatial Select Problem Statements.

Ø केंद्रीय विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार); डॉ. जितेन्‍द्र सिंह ने "जियोस्पेशियल हैकथॉन" लॉन्‍च किया है। यह हैकथॉन भारत के जियोस्पेशियल इकोसिस्टम में नवोन्‍मेषण और स्टार्टअप को प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करेगा। "जियोस्पेशियल हैकाथॉन" 10 मार्च, 2023 को समाप्त हो जाएगा । भू-स्थानिक चयन समस्या-कथनों के सर्वश्रेष्ठ समाधान के लिए 4 विजेताओं को चयनित करने के लिए हैकाथॉन चुनौतियों के दो समूह होंगे - अनुसंधान चुनौती एवं स्टार्ट-अप चुनौती। 

2. 'Jallikattu' event also known as 'Eru Thazhuvuthal' and 'Mancuvirattu' started in full swing in three villages of Tamil Nadu's Madurai. Jallikattu, practised in Tamil Nadu as a part of Pongal celebrations on the day of Mattu Pongal, is a sport where a bull is let loose among a crowd and people participating in the sport are supposed to take control of the bull by holding on to its hump for as long as they can.

Ø तमिलनाडु के मदुरै के तीन गांवों में 'जल्लीकट्टू' कार्यक्रम, जिसे 'एरु थझुवुथल' और 'मनकुविरट्टू' के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, उत्साह के साथ प्रारम्भ हो गया है। तमिलनाडु में मट्टू पोंगल के दिन पोंगल समारोह के एक उत्सव के रूप में जल्लीकट्टू का आयोजन किया जाता है। यह एक ऐसा खेल है जिसमें एक सांड को भीड़ के बीच में छोड़ दिया जाता है और इसके बाद खेल में भाग लेने वाले लोगों को सांड के सींग को पकड़कर उसे नियंत्रित करना होता है; जब तक वे कर सकते हैं।

3.  An Italian man has created Guinness World Records (GWR) for typing copies of 81 books backwards. According to the record keeping company, the technique is called 'mirror writing'. Not only does the 63-year-old Michele Santelia type books backwards, but he types them using four completely blank keyboards simultaneously without ever looking up at the screen to double check his work.

Ø इटली के एक व्यक्ति ने 81 पुस्तकों की प्रतियां बाईं ओर से टाइप करने के लिए गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड्स (GWR) बनाया है। रिकॉर्ड कीपिंग कंपनी के अनुसार, इस तकनीक को 'मिरर राइटिंग' कहा जाता है। 63 वर्षीय मिशेल सेंटेलिया न केवल किताबों बाईं ओर से टाइप करते हैं, साथ ही वह अपने काम को दोबारा जांचने के लिए स्क्रीन पर देखे बिना एक साथ चार पूरी तरह से खाली कीबोर्ड का उपयोग करके उन्हें टाइप करते हैं।

4. Scientists have reported the first evidence of the presence of solitary waves or distinct electric field fluctuations in the Martian magnetosphere. The study of these waves is crucial as they directly control particle energization, plasma loss, transport, etc., through wave-particle interactions. For the first time, a research team from the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG), an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), has identified and reported the solitary waves in the Martian magnetosphere with the help of high-resolution electric field data recorded by Langmuir Probe and Waves instrument on the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) spacecraft of NASA. The magnetosphere is weak but highly dynamic and formed due to the direct interaction of solar winds with the Martian atmosphere.

Ø वैज्ञानिकों ने मंगल ग्रह के चुम्बकीय क्षेत्र (मैग्नेटोस्फीयर) में एकाकी तरंगों अथवा विशिष्ट विद्युत क्षेत्र के उतार-चढ़ाव की उपस्थिति के पहले साक्ष्य की सूचना दी है। इन तरंगों का अध्ययन महत्वपूर्ण है, क्योंकि ऐसे तरंग-कण परस्पर क्रियाओं के माध्यम से सीधे कण ऊर्जा, प्लाज्मा हानि, परिवहन आदि को नियंत्रित करते हैं। पहली बार, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग (डीएसटी) के एक स्वायत्त संस्थान, भारतीय भू-चुंबकत्व संस्थान (इंडियन इंस्टिटयूट ऑफ़ जिओमैगनेटिस्म–आईआईजी) की एक शोध टीम ने उच्च- छायांकन (हाई रिज़ॉल्यूशन) की सहायता से मंगल ग्रह के चुम्बकीय क्षेत्र (मार्सियन मैग्नेटोस्फीयर) में एकाकी तरंगों की पहचान और उनकी उपस्थिति की जानकारी दी है। नासा (एनएएसए) के मंगल वायुमंडल और वाष्पशील विकास (मार्स एटमोस्फियर एंड वोलेटाइल इवोल्यूशन- एमएवीईएन) अंतरिक्ष यान पर लैंगम्यूर प्रोब एंड वेव इंस्ट्रूमेंट द्वारा विद्युत क्षेत्र डेटा अभिलेखित किया गया है। यहां मैग्नेटोस्फीयर दुर्बल; लेकिन अत्यधिक गतिशील है और मंगल ग्रह के वातावरण के साथ सौर पवनों (सोलर विंड्स)  के सीधे संपर्क के कारण बनता है।

5.NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Tripura on 16-01-2023 in New Delhi for Development of Floating and Ground Mounted based Renewable Energy Projects in the State of Tripura. This MoU embarks upon the journey towards development of large sized Renewable Energy Projects in the State of Tripura and shall help Govt of Tripura in meeting its Clean Energy Commitments and obligations.

Ø एनटीपीसी नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा लिमिटेड (एनटीपीसी आरईएल) ने त्रिपुरा सरकार के साथ नई दिल्ली में 16 जनवरी, 2023 को राज्य में फ्लोटिंग और ग्राउंड माउंटेड आधारित नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं के विकास के लिए एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किया है। यह समझौता ज्ञापन त्रिपुरा में बड़े आकार की नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं के विकास की दिशा में उठाया गया एक कदम है और यह त्रिपुरा सरकार को अपनी स्वच्छ ऊर्जा प्रतिबद्धताओं व दायित्वों को पूरा करने में सहायता करेगा।

6.The 21st Edition of the Bilateral Naval Exercise between India and France – Exercise Varuna commenced on the Western Seaboard. While the bilateral exercise between the two navies were initiated in 1993, it was christened as ‘VARUNA’ in 2001 and has become a hallmark of India – France strategic bilateral relationship. The exercise will be conducted over five days from 16 to 20 January 2023 and will witness advanced air defence exercises, tactical manoeuvres, surface firings, underway replenishment and other maritime operations.

Ø भारत और फ्रांस के बीच द्विपक्षीय नौसेन्य अभ्यास का 21वां संस्करण अभ्यास ''वरुण'' पश्चिमी समुद्र तट पर प्रारंभ हुआ है। दोनों देशों की नौसेनाओं के बीच द्विपक्षीय अभ्यास वर्ष 1993 में प्रारम्भ किया गया था, और इसे वर्ष 2001 में 'वरुण' नाम दिया गया था। नौसैन्य अभ्यास की यह श्रृंखला भारत और फ्रांस के रणनीतिक द्विपक्षीय संबंधों की पहचान बन गई है। यह अभ्यास 16 से 20 जनवरी 2023 तक पांच दिनों के लिए आयोजित किया गया है। इस दौरान उन्नत वायु रक्षा अभ्यास, सामरिक युद्धाभ्यास, सतह पर गोलीबारी, रिप्लेनिशमेंट और अन्य समुद्री संचालन गतिविधियां आयोजित होंगी।

7. Startup India Innovation week culminated with felicitation of Winners of National Start up Awards 2022 on National Start up Day. The awards were presented by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal in the presence of Shri Som Prakash, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry in New Delhi. National Startup Awards 2022 acknowledges startups and enablers who have been instrumental in revolutionizing the development story of India and in demonstrating exceptional capabilities not just in terms of financial gains but also for the measurable impact on society.

Ø स्टार्टअप इंडिया नवोन्मेषण सप्ताह राष्ट्रीय स्टार्टअप पुरस्कार 2022 के विजेताओं को पुरस्कार प्रदान करने के साथ राष्ट्रीय स्टार्टअप दिवस को संपन्न हुआ है। ये पुरस्कार केंद्रीय वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग, उपभोक्ता मामले, खाद्य एवं सार्वजनिक वितरण तथा कपड़ा मंत्री श्री पीयूष गोयल द्वारा केंद्रीय वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग राज्य मंत्री श्री सोम प्रकाश की उपस्थिति में प्रदान किए गए हैं। राष्ट्रीय स्टार्टअप पुरस्कार 2022, उन स्टार्टअप्स और सक्षमकर्ताओं को सम्मानित करता है; जो भारत की विकास गाथा में क्रांतिकारी भूमिका निभाते आए हैं और न केवल वित्तीय लाभ के संदर्भ में; अपितु समाज पर व्यापक प्रभाव डालने के सम्बन्ध में असाधारण क्षमताएं प्रदर्शित करते रहे हैं।

8.  Kerala has made wearing masks compulsory in public places. A government order issued in this regard said the wearing of masks in public places will come into force with immediate effect. The State Health Department issued the order under the Epidemic Diseases Act for a period of one month.  Although the State government has given no reason behind its decision to make wearing masks compulsory.

Ø केरल ने सार्वजनिक जगहों पर मास्क पहनना अनिवार्य कर दिया है। इस संबंध में जारी एक सरकारी आदेश में कहा गया है कि सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर मास्क पहनना तत्काल प्रभाव से लागू होगा। राज्य के स्वास्थ्य विभाग ने एक माह की अवधि के लिए महामारी रोग अधिनियम के अंतर्गत इस आदेश को जारी किया है। यद्यपि, राज्य सरकार ने मास्क पहनना अनिवार्य करने के अपने निर्णय के पीछे कोई कारण नहीं बताया है।

9. The Supreme Court has refused to consider a plea for an intervention into the Joshimath subsidence issue and declare the crisis as a national disaster.  The Supreme Court Bench, headed by Chief Justice of India, Justice D Y Chandrachud, dismissed the plea of Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati seeking immediate intervention by it.  The bench, also including Justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala, asked the petitioner to move the Uttarakhand High Court with a fresh intervention application.

Ø सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने जोशीमठ अधोगमन मामले में हस्तक्षेप करने और संकट को राष्ट्रीय आपदा घोषित करने की याचिका पर विचार करने से मना कर दिया है। भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश, न्यायमूर्ति डी वाई चंद्रचूड़ की अध्यक्षता वाली सर्वोच्च न्यायालय की खंडपीठ ने स्वामी अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद सरस्वती की उस याचिका को खारिज कर दिया है, जिसमें उन्होंने तत्काल हस्तक्षेप करने की मांग की थी। जस्टिस पी एस नरसिम्हा और जे बी पारदीवाला सहित पीठ ने याचिकाकर्ता को एक नए हस्तक्षेप आवेदन के साथ उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय में जाने के लिए कहा है।

10. Over 12 hundred performers will take part in the first ever Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival as a part of the Republic Day celebrations in the National Capital. To mark the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the performances will be showcased under the Adi- Shaurya: Parv Parakram kain banner on 23rd and 24th of January at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. The event aims at throwing light on the contribution of Subhash Chandra Bose to the nation's freedom struggle.

Ø राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह के अंतर्गत 12 सौ से अधिक कलाकार, ‘पहले सैन्य टैटू और जनजातीय नृत्य महोत्सव’ में भाग लेंगे। नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस की 126 वीं जयंती को चिह्नित करने के लिए, जवाहर लाल नेहरू स्टेडियम में 23 और 24 जनवरी को आदि-शौर्य: पर्व पराक्रम के बैनर के अंतर्गत यह प्रदर्शन किए जाएंगे। इस आयोजन का उद्देश्य देश के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में सुभाष चंद्र बोस के योगदान पर प्रकाश डालना है।
