1.Union Minister for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh will inaugurate the Prashasan Gaon ki Ore, a nationwide campaign under the Good Governance Week 2022 in New Delhi.  The Nationwide campaign for Redressal of Public Grievances and Improving Service Delivery will be held in all Districts, States and Union Territories of the country. 373 Best Good Governance Practices were identified for discussion in District Level Workshops.

2. Indian-origin Leo Varadkar has returned for a second term as Ireland’s Prime Minister as part of a job-sharing deal made by the country’s centrist coalition government. Lawmakers voted to approve Varadkar's nomination to replace Micheál Martin during a special session of the Dail, the lower house of Ireland’s parliament. In his first term, Mr. Varadkar was the Prime Minister from 2017 to 2020.

3.According to World Athletics, the gold medalist in the men's javelin event from the Tokyo Olympics surpassed Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt as the track and field athlete who received the most media attention in 2022. According to data from media analysis firm Unicepta, 812 articles were written about Chopra, more than the Jamaicans Elaine Thompson-Herah (751 articles), Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce (698) and Shericka Jackson, the women's 200-meter world champion (679).

4.India defeated Bangladesh by 120 runs in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 for the Blind in Bangalore to win an unprecedented third consecutive title. Batting first India scored 277 runs in their 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh were all out for 157 runs in their 20 overs. Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, and Sri Lanka competed in the third edition of the competition, which was hosted by India. The Men in Blue, who had previously won the title in 2012 and 2017, completed a hat-trick of wins by defeating Bangladesh in the final.

5.American executive Cindy Hook has been appointed as the inaugural CEO of the organising committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane. The organising committee announced the appointment after engaging with 50 candidates over six months. Hook was based in Singapore as CEO of Deloitte Asia Pacific until June and had previously worked for the international professional services network in the U.S. and in Australia, moving to Sydney in 2009 to lead the auditing practice for six years and later becoming CEO of the Australian operation in 2015.

6.External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that India has declared its candidature as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the tenure of 2028-29. He notified about the decision in New York as India prepares to wrap up its 2021-22 term as an elected member of UNSC on 31 December 2022. India assumed the presidency of the council on 1 December 2022 for the second time, earlier it has happened in August 2021.

Ø विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने कहा कि भारत ने 2028-29 के कार्यकाल के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के गैर-स्थायी सदस्य के रूप में अपनी उम्मीदवारी की घोषणा की है। उन्होंने न्यूयॉर्क में इस फैसले के बारे में सूचित किया क्योंकि भारत 31 दिसंबर 2022 को यूएनएससी के निर्वाचित सदस्य के रूप में 2021-22 का कार्यकाल समाप्त होने जा रहा है। भारत ने 1 दिसंबर 2022 को दूसरी बार परिषद की अध्यक्षता ग्रहण की, इससे पहले  अगस्त 2021 में यह प्राप्त हुआ था।

7.The 2022 Global Food Security Index (GFSI) report was released by the British weekly The Economist. In this report, South Africa overtook Tunisia to become the most food-secure country in Africa. India is ranked at 68th position along with Algeria with the overall score of 58.9. China’s position is at 25th with the score of 74.2. India was ranked at 71st position in the Global Food Security (GFS) Index 2021 of 113 countries with an overall score of 57.2 points on the GFS Index 2021.

8.International Migrants Day is observed annually on December 18 to bring attention to the social and economic realities of migrants around the world. This day is observed to guarantee that the rights of migrants are equally respected and not violated. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed December 18 as International Migrants Day on December 4, 2000. On this day in 1990, the UNGA adopted the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

Ø विश्व भर के प्रवासियों की सामाजिक और आर्थिक वास्तविकताओं पर ध्यान देने के लिए प्रत्येक वर्ष 18 दिसंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रवासी दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिन इस बात का समर्थन देने के लिए मनाया जाता है कि प्रवासियों के अधिकारों का समान रूप से सम्मान किया जाता है और उनका उल्लंघन नहीं किया जाता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा (UNGA) ने 4 दिसंबर, 2000 को 18 दिसंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रवासी दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया था। इस दिन 1990 में, UNGA ने सभी प्रवासी श्रमिकों और उनके परिवारों के सदस्यों के अधिकारों के संरक्षण पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन को अपनाया था।

9.Union Health and Family Welfare minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated new facilities at the state-of-the-art, National Animal Resource Facility for Biomedical Research (NARFBR) in Hyderabad. The national facility is located in Genome Valley, Hyderabad’s biotech hub. Spread over 100 acres and 20 buildings the facility will serve as a one-stop centre for basic, applied and regulatory animal studies in India.

Ø केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्री डॉ. मनसुख मंडाविया ने हैदराबाद में बायोमेडिकल रिसर्च के लिए राष्ट्रीय पशु संसाधन सुविधा (एनएआरएफबीआर) में अत्याधुनिक सुविधाओं का उद्घाटन किया है। राष्ट्रीय सुविधा हैदराबाद के बायोटेक हब जीनोम वैली में स्थित है। 100 एकड़ और 20 भवनों में विस्तृत यह सुविधा भारत में आधारभूत, आनुप्रयोगिक और नियामक पशु अध्ययन के लिए वन-स्टॉप सेंटर के रूप में कार्य करेगी।

10.Prime Minister Narendra Modi being welcomed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma upon his arrival to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council, in Shillong, Meghalaya, Dec. 18, 2022. Established by an Act of the Parliament in 1971 (Act No. 84 of 1971), NEC was formally inaugurated on November 7, 1972, at Shillong, Meghalaya, marking the beginning of a new chapter of concerted and planned endeavour on the part of the Government of India for the North Eastern Region.
