1.   As part of India’s G-20 presidency, a Business-20 (B-20) inception meeting will be organised at Gandhinagar in Gujarat between the 22nd to 24th of January. The meeting will be held to formulate policy recommendations to be submitted to G-20 ahead of the leaders' Summit. This will be the first of 15 events that the State is set to organise as part of India's G-20 presidency.

Ø भारत की जी-20 अध्यक्षता के अंतर्गत, 22 से 24 जनवरी के बीच गुजरात के गांधीनगर में एक बिजनेस-20 (बी-20) स्थापना बैठक आयोजित की जाएगी। यह बैठक, नेताओं के शिखर सम्मेलन से पहले जी-20 को प्रस्तुत की जाने वाली नीतिगत सिफारिशों को तैयार करने के लिए आयोजित की जाएगी। यह कुल15 कार्यक्रमों में से पहला कार्यक्रम होगा, जिसे गुजरात राज्य, भारत की जी-20 अध्यक्षता के अंतर्गतआयोजित करने जा रहा है।

2. Mexico has brought into force one of the world's strictest anti-tobacco laws by enacting a total ban on smoking in public places. The step, which was first approved in 2021, also includes a ban on tobacco advertising. Several other Latin American countries have also passed legislation to create smoke-free public spaces. However, Mexico's legislation is considered to be the most robust and wide-ranging in the Americas. It amounts to one of the most stringent anti-smoking laws in the world.

3.  In Vietnam, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has announced his resignation amid the ongoing anti-corruption drive. The anti-corruption drive has led to several ministers being fired in Vietnam. Earlier, two deputy prime ministers who served under President Phuc had quit. Phuc, a former prime minister, held the post of president since 2021. The 69-year-old had served as prime minister of Vietnam from 2016 until April 2021, when he was elected president.

Ø वियतनाम में चल रहे भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी अभियान के बीच राष्ट्रपति गुयेन जुआन फुक ने अपने पर से त्यागपत्र दे दिया है। भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी अभियान के कारण वियतनाम में कई मंत्रियों को सेवा-मुक्त कर दिया गया है। इससे पहले, राष्ट्रपति फुक के अधीन कार्य करने वाले दो उप-प्रधानमंत्रियों ने पद छोड़ दिया था। फुक; जो एक पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री हैं, ने वर्ष 2021 से राष्ट्रपति का पद संभाला था। 69 वर्षीय फुक ने 2016 से अप्रैल 2021 तक वियतनाम के प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में कार्य किया था, और वर्ष 2021 में वह राष्ट्रपति चुने गए थे।

4.  The 5th Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue between India and South Korea was held in Seoul. During the two-day dialogue which concluded recently, both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in areas including trade and investment, security and defense, science and technology, as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges. India and South Korea have agreed to work to make global supply chains more resilient and robust.

Ø भारत और दक्षिण कोरिया के बीच 5वीं विदेश नीति और सुरक्षा वार्ता सियोल में आयोजित की गई। हाल ही में समाप्त हुई दो दिवसीय वार्ता के दौरान, दोनों पक्ष व्यापार और निवेश, सुरक्षा और रक्षा, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी के साथ-साथ सांस्कृतिक और लोगों से लोगों के आदान-प्रदान सहित क्षेत्रों में सहयोग को व्यापक करने पर सहमत हुए हैं। भारत और दक्षिण कोरिया, वैश्विक आपूर्ति श्रृंखलाओं को अधिक लचीला और मजबूत बनाने के लिए काम करने पर सहमत हुए हैं।

5. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is all set to begin excavation at Delhi’s Purana Qila again. The excavation will be led by Shri Vasant Swarnkar and would be the third season of excavation at Purana Qila after excavations in the year 2013-14 & 2017-18. During the closure of the previous season’s excavation, evidence of layers predating the Mauryan period was found.  Purana Qilla, the 16th-century fort, was built by Sher Shah Suri and second Mughal emperor Humayun.

Ø भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (एएसआई) दिल्ली के पुराना किला में एक बार फिर खुदाई करने जा रहा है। इस खुदाई का नेतृत्व श्री वसंत स्वर्णकार करेंगे और वर्ष 2013-14 तथा 2017-18 में की गई खुदाई के बाद पुराना किला में तीसरी बार खुदाई की जाएगी। पिछली बार की गई खुदाई समाप्त होने के दौरान, मौर्य काल से पहले की परतों के प्रमाण मिले थे। 16वीं शताब्दी का पुराना किला, शेर शाह सूरी और दूसरे मुगल बादशाह हुमायूं द्वारा बनवाया गया था।

6.The Indian Army under the aegis of HQ Army Training Command (ARTRAC) organised the second edition of Hackathon aptly named “SAINYA RANAKSHETRAM 2.0” from October 2022 to January 2023 with an aim to seek solutions to operational cyber challenges and to jump start and telescope the development time for innovative solutions in the field of Cyber Security. The event was aimed at providing a platform to identify indigenous talent in niche domains.

Ø सेना प्रशिक्षण कमान (आरट्रैक) मुख्यालय के अधीन भारतीय सेना ने अक्टूबर, 2022 से जनवरी 2023 तक हैकथॉन के दूसरे संस्करण- "सैन्य रणक्षेत्रम् 2.0" का आयोजन किया है। इसका उद्देश्य परिचालन संबंधित साइबर चुनौतियों का समाधान खोजना, साइबर सुरक्षा के क्षेत्र में अभिनव समाधानों को तत्काल प्रारम्भ करना और इसके विकास में लगने वाले समय को कम करना है। इस आयोजन का उद्देश्य इस क्षेत्र में स्वदेशी प्रतिभा की पहचान करने के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करना है।

7.As part of the Republic Day Celebrations 2023 and to mark the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (celebrated as Parakram Diwas), a Military Tattoo & Tribal Dance Festival ‘Aadi Shaurya - Parv Parakram Ka’ will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, New Delhi on January 23 & 24, 2023. The two-day festival will showcase the prowess of the Armed Forces and the ethnic beauty of India’s tribal culture.

Ø गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह 2023 के अंतर्गत और नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस की 126वीं जयंती (जिसे पराक्रम दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है) को चिन्हित करने के लिए जवाहरलाल नेहरू स्टेडियम, नई दिल्ली में 23 और 24 जनवरी, 2023 को एक सैन्य टैटू और जनजातीय नृत्य महोत्सव 'आदि शौर्य - पर्व पराक्रम का' आयोजित किया जाएगा। दो दिवसीय उत्सव, सशस्त्र बलों की शक्ति और भारत की आदिवासी संस्कृति की जातीय सुंदरता का प्रदर्शन करेगा।

8.The Ministry of Textiles is going to organize “VIRAASAT’ - Celebrating Handloom Home Décor-Special Handloom Expo - at Handloom Haat, New Delhi from 20.01.2023 to 30.01.2023 to showcase the Home Décor products made by Handloom. The exhibition was organized in two phases from 16th to 30th December and 3rd to 17th January 2023 at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi in which famous Handcrafted varieties of Saris. The Sari Festival was inaugurated by Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman on 16th December 2022, along with Hon’ble Minister of State Smt. Darshana Jardosh and other women parliamentarians.

Ø कपड़ा मंत्रालय, हथकरघा से निर्मित गृह सज्जा उत्पादों को प्रदर्शित करने के लिए 20.01.2023 से 30.01.2023 तक हथकरघा हाट, नई दिल्ली में विशेष हथकरघा प्रदर्शनी ‘विरासत’ - हथकरघा गृह सजावट का उत्सव- आयोजित करने जा रहा है।  यह प्रदर्शनी 16 से 30 दिसम्‍बर और 3 से 17 जनवरी 2023 तक हथकरघा हाट, जनपथ, नई दिल्ली में दो चरणों में आयोजित की गई थी, जिसमें हाथ से बनी प्रसिद्ध साड़ियां शामिल थीं। साड़ी महोत्सव का उद्घाटन माननीय वित्त मंत्री श्रीमती निर्मला सीतारमण ने 16 दिसम्‍बर 2022 को माननीय राज्य मंत्री श्रीमती दर्शना जरदोश और अन्य महिला सांसदों के साथ किया था।

9. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the second phase of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23, being organised in Basti District, on 18th January, 2023 via video conferencing. Saansad Khel Mahakumbh is being organised in Basti District by Lok Sabha MP from Basti, Shri Harish Dwivedi since 2021.  Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 is being organised in two phases. The first phase was organised from 10th to 16th December, 2022 and the second phase of the Khel Mahakumbh will be organised from 18th to 28th January, 2023.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी 18 जनवरी 2023 को वीडियो कांफ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से बस्ती जिले में आयोजित किए जा रहे सांसद खेल महाकुंभ 2022-23 के दूसरे चरण का उद्घाटन करेंगे। सांसद खेल महाकुंभ का आयोजन बस्ती जिले में बस्ती से लोकसभा सांसद श्री हरीश द्विवेदी द्वारा 2021 से किया जा रहा है। सांसद खेल महाकुंभ 2022-23 का आयोजन दो चरणों में किया जा रहा है। खेल महाकुंभ के पहले चरण का आयोजन 10 दिसम्बर से 16 दिसंबर, 2022 के दौरान किया गया और दूसरे चरण का आयोजन 18 जनवरी से 28 जनवरी, 2023 के दौरान किया जाएगा।

10. Retired director general of the Border Security Force (BSF) Pankaj Kumar Singh was appointed as deputy national security adviser. According to an official order, Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed on a re-employment contract for a period of two years. Singh retired as BSF chief on December 31, 2022.

Ø सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) के सेवानिवृत्त महानिदेशक पंकज कुमार सिंह को उप राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार नियुक्त किया गया है। एक आधिकारिक आदेश के अनुसार, राजस्थान कैडर के 1988 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी सिंह को दो वर्ष की अवधि के लिए पुनर्नियोजन अनुबंध पर नियुक्त किया गया है। पंकज कुमार सिंह 31 दिसंबर, 2022 को बीएसएफ प्रमुख के पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए हैं।
