1.DefExpo-2022, the flagship event of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, one of the largest of its kind is being held in the twin cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 18 to 22 October 2022. The 12th edition of the DefExpo aims to bring new technologies and solutions in the field of defence exclusively for Indian companies. The theme of DefExpo 2022 is ‘Path to Pride’. At DefExpo-2022, the participants will get an opportunity to showcase their equipment and platforms and be able to explore the strengths and capabilities of the expanse of Indian Defence industry for forging business partnerships.

Ø भारत सरकार के रक्षा मंत्रालय का प्रमुख कार्यक्रम डेफएक्सपो-2022 अपनी तरह का सबसे बड़ा आयोजन है, जो दिनांक 18 से 22 अक्टूबर 2022 तक गुजरात के अहमदाबाद और गांधीनगर में आयोजित किया जा रहा है। डेफएक्सपो के 12वें संस्करण का लक्ष्य, भारतीय कंपनियों के लिए विशेष रूप से रक्षा के क्षेत्र में नवीन तकनीकों और समाधानों को लाना है। डेफएक्सपो 2022 का प्रमुख विषय 'पाथ टू प्राइड' है। डेफएक्सपो-2022 में प्रतिभागियों को अपने उपकरणों और प्लेटफार्मों को प्रदर्शित करने का अवसर मिलेगा और इससे वो व्यापार साझेदारी बनाने के लिए भारतीय रक्षा उद्योग के विस्तार की ताकत और क्षमताओं का पता लगाने में सक्षम होंगे।

2. NTPC Ltd., signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. Japan and its subsidiary Mitsubishi Power India Private Limited to demonstrate the feasibility for Hydrogen co-firing blended with natural gas in MHI 701D gas turbines installed at NTPC Auraiya Gas Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh. The total installed capacity of the Auraiya Gas Power Plant is 663 MW with four gas turbines operating in combined cycle mode.

Ø उत्तर प्रदेश में एनटीपीसी औरैया गैस विद्युत संयंत्र में स्थापित एमएचआई 701डी गैस टरबाइनों में प्राकृतिक गैस के साथ मिश्रित हाइड्रोजन को-फायरिंग की व्यवहार्यता को प्रदर्शित करने के लिए एनटीपीसी लिमिटेड ने जापान की मित्सुबिशी हैवी इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड और इसकी सहायक कंपनी मित्सुबिशी पावर इंडिया प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। चार गैस टरबाइनों के संयुक्त चक्रीय मोड में परिचालित होने के साथ औरैया गैस विद्युत संयंत्र की कुल स्थापित क्षमता 663 मेगावाट की है।

3. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022 at Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi . The Prime Minister also inaugurated 600 Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PMKSK) under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers. Furthermore, the Prime Minister also launched Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana - One Nation One Fertiliser. During the event, the Prime Minister also released the 12th instalment amount of Rs. 16,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through Direct Benefit Transfer. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Agri Startup Conclave and Exhibition. During the event, the Prime Minister also launched ‘Indian Edge’, an e-magazine on fertiliser.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्‍द्र मोदी ने नई दिल्ली में भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान में पीएम किसान सम्मान सम्मेलन 2022 का उद्घाटन किया। प्रधानमंत्री ने रसायन और उर्वरक मंत्रालय के तहत 600 प्रधानमंत्री किसान समृद्धि केंद्रों (पीएमकेएसके) का भी उद्घाटन किया। इसके साथ ही, प्रधानमंत्री ने ‘प्रधानमंत्री भारतीय जन उर्वरक परियोजना- एक राष्ट्र एक उर्वरक’ का भी शुभारंभ किया। इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री ने प्रत्यक्ष लाभ अंतरण के माध्यम से प्रधानमंत्री किसान सम्मान निधि (पीएम-किसान) के तहत 16,000 करोड़ रुपये की 12वीं किस्त भी जारी की। प्रधानमंत्री ने कृषि स्टार्टअप सम्‍मेलन और प्रदर्शनी का उद्घाटन किया। इस कार्यक्रम के दौरान, प्रधानमंत्री ने उर्वरक पर एक ई-पत्रिका 'इंडियन एज' का शुभारंभ किया।

4. Bandhan Bank today announced that it has roped in Sourav Ganguly as its Brand Ambassador. Fondly called Dada and The Maharaja of Indian Cricket, Sourav Ganguly will help amplify the brand message of the Bank and endorse the products and services of the Bank.

5. Shehan Karunatilaka has won the 2022 Booker Prize with his novel The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida. Published by the independent press Sort of Books, the book is a darkly comic murder mystery set in Colombo in 1990 during the Sri Lankan Civil War. It follows Maali Almeida, a war photographer and gambler as he tries to find out who killed him in seven moons.

Ø शेहान करुणातिलका ने अपने उपन्यास द सेवन मून्स ऑफ माली अल्मेडा के साथ 2022 का बुकर पुरस्कार जीता है। स्वतंत्र प्रेस सॉर्ट ऑफ बुक्स द्वारा प्रकाशित, पुस्तक 1990 में श्रीलंकाई गृहयुद्ध के दौरान कोलंबो में स्थापित एक डार्क कॉमिक मर्डर मिस्ट्री है। माली अल्मेडा, जो एक युद्ध फोटोग्राफर और जुआरी है, और वह यह पता लगाने की कोशिश करता है कि उसे सात चाँद में किसने मारा था।

6. Ministry of Civil Aviation has organised the Conference of the Secretaries of Civil Aviation of all the states and union territories. The inaugural session was chaired by Shri Rajiv Bansal, secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India, today in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The objective of the conference is to promote greater collaboration and synergy between state civil aviation departments and the Ministry of Civil aviation to augment the development of the civil aviation sector. 

Ø नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय ने सभी राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के नागरिक उड्डयन सचिवों के सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया है। उद्घाटन सत्र की अध्यक्षता श्री राजीव बंसल, सचिव, नागर विमानन मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार ने विज्ञान भवन, नई दिल्ली में की। इस सम्मेलन का उद्देश्य नागरिक उड्डयन क्षेत्र के विकास को बढ़ाने के लिए राज्य नागरिक उड्डयन विभागों और नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय के बीच अधिक सहयोग और तालमेल को प्रोत्साहन देना है।

7. President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud as the new Chief Justice of India. Justice Chandrachud's appointment will come into effect from 9th of next month. He will succeed present Chief Justice of India Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. Justice DY Chandrachud would be the 50th Chief Justice of India. Born in 1959, Justice Chandrachud was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 13th May 2016. Earlier, he served as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

Ø राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने डॉ. जस्टिस डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ को भारत का नया मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया है। न्यायमूर्ति चंद्रचूड़ की नियुक्ति अगले माह की नौ तारीख से प्रभावी होगी। वह भारत के वर्तमान मुख्य न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति उदय उमेश ललित का स्थान लेंगे। जस्टिस डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ भारत के 50वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश होंगे। 1959 में जन्में न्यायमूर्ति चंद्रचूड़ को 13 मई 2016 को भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय का न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया था। इससे पहले, उन्होंने इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के रूप में कार्य किया था।

8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 90th Interpol General Assembly at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The four-day General Assembly of INTERPOL will begin on 18th october and will conclude on 21st of this month. 90th Interpol General Assembly will be attended by delegations from 195 INTERPOL member countries comprising of Ministers, Police Chiefs of countries, Heads of National Central Bureaus and Senior police officers. The General Assembly is the international policing organisation’s top governing body and meets once a year to take key decisions related to its functioning.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी नई दिल्ली के प्रगति मैदान में 90वीं इंटरपोल महासभा को संबोधित करेंगे। इंटरपोल की चार दिवसीय महासभा 18 अक्टूबर से प्रारम्भ होगी और इस माह की 21 तारीख को समाप्त होगी। 90वीं इंटरपोल महासभा में 195 इंटरपोल सदस्य देशों के प्रतिनिधिमंडल शामिल होंगे जिनमें मंत्री, देशों के पुलिस प्रमुख, राष्ट्रीय केंद्रीय ब्यूरो के प्रमुख और वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी शामिल होंगे। महासभा अंतरराष्ट्रीय पुलिसिंग संगठन की शीर्ष शासी निकाय है और इसके कामकाज से संबंधित महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय लेने के लिए वर्ष में एक बार बैठक करती है।

9. NATO began its long-planned annual nuclear exercises in northwestern Europe. Fourteen of NATO’s 30 member countries were due to take part in the exercises. The military alliance said around 60 aircraft including fighter jets and surveillance and refuelling planes will take part in the event. The bulk of the war games will be held at least 1,000 kilometres from Russia’s borders. US long-range B-52 bombers will also take part in the maneuvers, dubbed Steadfast Noon, which will run until October 30. 

Ø नाटो ने आज उत्तर-पश्चिमी यूरोप में अपने लंबे समय से नियोजित वार्षिक परमाणु अभ्यास की शुरुआत की है। नाटो के 30 सदस्य देशों में से 14 को अभ्यास में भाग लेंगे। सैन्य गठबंधन ने कहा कि लड़ाकू जेट और निगरानी और ईंधन भरने वाले विमानों सहित लगभग 60 विमान इस आयोजन में हिस्सा लेंगे। अधिकांश युद्ध-अभ्यास रूस की सीमाओं से कम से कम 1,000 किलोमीटर दूर आयोजित किए जाएंगे। अमेरिका की लंबी दूरी की बी-52 बमवर्षक भी युद्धाभ्यास में हिस्सा लेंगे, जिसे स्टीडफास्ट नून कहा जाता है, और यह 30 अक्टूबर तक चलेगा।

10. Indian pistol shooter Sameer won a Silver in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men Junior event of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championship in Cairo, Egypt. India have won so far total 14 medals, including five gold, three silver and six bronze medals in the ongoing ISSF Championship. They remain second in the standings behind China.

Ø भारतीय पिस्टल निशानेबाज समीर ने मिस्र के काहिरा में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय निशानेबाजी खेल महासंघ (आईएसएसएफ) विश्व चैम्पियनशिप की 25 मीटर रैपिड फायर पिस्टल पुरुष जूनियर स्पर्धा में रजत पदक जीता है। भारत ने अभी तक चल रही ISSF चैंपियनशिप में पांच स्वर्ण, तीन रजत और छह कांस्य सहित कुल 14 पदक जीते हैं। भारत, चीन के बाद पदक-तालिका में दूसरे स्थान पर है।
