1.Himalayan Cataract Project Co-Founder Dr Sanduk Ruit has won the ISA Award for Service to Humanity, a top civilian award of Bahrain. The award carries a cash prize of USD 1 million, a certificate of merit and a gold medal.  Dr Ruit is pioneer in delivering high-quality microsurgical procedures in remote eye camps. He made modern eye care affordable and accessible to countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

2.The world's oldest person, French nun Lucile Randon, has died aged 118. She had been Europe's eldest for some time, but she entered the Guinness Book of Records last April as the world's oldest person following the death of Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman who lived until she was 119-years-old. The record for oldest confirmed age reached by a human belongs to Jeanne Calment, also of southern France, who died in 1997 at the age of 122.

Ø विश्व की सबसे बुजुर्ग व्यक्ति, फ्रांसीसी नन ल्यूसिल रैंडन का 118 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हो गया है। वह कुछ समय के लिए यूरोप की सबसे वृद्ध व्यक्ति थीं, लेकिन उन्होंने पिछले वर्ष अप्रैल में ही गिनीज बुक ऑफ रिकॉर्ड्स में प्रवेश किया था, जब एक जापानी महिला केन तनाका की मृत्यु हो गई थी और वह 119 वर्ष की आयु तक जीवित रहीं। मानव द्वारा सबसे अधिक आयु तक पहुंचने का रिकॉर्ड दक्षिणी फ्रांस की महिला जीन कैलमेंट का है, जिनकी मृत्यु 1997 में 122 वर्ष की आयु में हुई थी।

3. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will step down by next month. Ms. Ardern will not also contest general elections set for14th of October. The Prime Minister told reporters that 7th of February will be her last day in office. She said that it had been a tough five and a half years as prime minister. Ms Jacinda Ardern became the youngest female head of government in the world when she was elected prime minister in 2017, aged 37.

Ø न्यूजीलैंड की प्रधानमंत्री जैसिंडा अर्डर्न अगले माह पद से त्यागपत्र दे देंगी। सुश्री अर्डर्न 14 अक्टूबर को होने वाले आम चुनाव में प्रतिभाग भी नहीं करेंगी। प्रधानमंत्री ने समाचार-पत्रों के संवाददाताओं से कहा है कि 7 फरवरी कार्यालय में उनका आखिरी कार्यदिवस होगा। साथ भी उन्होंने कहा है कि प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में साढ़े पांच वर्ष कठिन रहे। सुश्री जैसिंडा अर्डर्न 37 वर्ष की आयु में वर्ष 2017 में प्रधानमंत्री चुने जाने पर विश्व की सबसे कम आयु की महिला प्रमुख बनीं थीं।

4. After successful trial for a month through RoPax Ferry services on the Gogha Hazira route in the state of Gujarat, the most popular postal system in the world, ‘India Post’ to continue its postal and package delivery services for speedy and economical dispatch on daily basis. Minister of State for Communications Shri. Devusinh Chauhan will flag off the daily mail and parcel delivery transportation services of India Post on ‘M.V. Voyage Express- RoPax Ferry’ from Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Hazira terminal. The RoPax service between Hazira and Gogha inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in November 2020.

5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend conference of the Directors-General of Police of all States and the Central Armed Police Force. The annual conference will be held at the Pusa Institute in New Delhi from the 20th to 22nd of January. The meeting will deliberate on key issues which includes the using technology for effective policing, maritime security, cyber security, war against drugs and improved border management.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी सभी राज्यों के पुलिस महानिदेशकों और केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बल के सम्मेलन को संबोधित करेंगे। वार्षिक सम्मेलन 20 से 22 जनवरी तक नई दिल्ली के पूसा संस्थान में आयोजित किया जाएगा। इस बैठक में प्रमुख विषयों पर विचार-विमर्श किया जाएगा, जिसमें प्रभावी पुलिसिंग, समुद्री सुरक्षा, साइबर सुरक्षा, ड्रग्स के खिलाफ युद्ध और बेहतर सीमा प्रबंधन के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी का उपयोग शामिल है।

6. People of France protested on the streets of Paris and other French cities amid nationwide strikes against the government's plans to raise the retirement age. However, President Emmanuel Macron insisted he would press ahead with the proposed pension reforms. French unions have announced new strikes and protests, vowing to try to get the government to back down on plans to push up the standard retirement age from 62 to 64.

Ø सेवानिवृत्ति की आयु बढ़ाने की सरकार की योजनाओं के विरुद्ध राष्ट्रव्यापी हड़ताल के बीच फ्रांस के लोगों ने पेरिस और अन्य फ्रांसीसी शहरों की सड़कों पर विरोध प्रदर्शन किया है। यद्यपि, राष्ट्रपति इमैनुएल मैक्रॉन ने कहा है कि वह प्रस्तावित पेंशन सुधारों के साथ आगे बढ़ेंगे। फ्रांसीसी यूनियनों ने नई हड़तालों और विरोधों की घोषणा की है और इसके साथ ही सरकार के सेवानिवृत्ति की मानक आयु 62 से बढ़ाकर 64 करने की योजना को समाप्त करने करने का प्रण लिया है।

7.Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is participating in FITUR from 18th to 22nd January in Madrid which is one of the world’s largest international travel exhibitions. India’s participation at FITUR is significant to step up the recovery of inbound tourism to pre-pandemic levels. Ministry of Tourism has taken a space of 253 sq. mtr., with over 30 participants co-exhibiting with the India Pavilion to participate in the Exhibition.

Ø भारत सरकार का पर्यटन मंत्रालय, मैड्रिड में 18 से 22 जनवरी तक फेरिया इंटरनैशनल डी टुरिस्मो-एफआईटीयूआर में भाग ले रहा है। फेरिया इंटरनैशनल डी टुरिस्मो विश्व की सबसे बड़ी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय यात्रा प्रदर्शनियों में से एक है। एफआईटीयूआर में भारत की भागीदारी पूर्व-महामारी के स्तर पर अंतर्देशीय पर्यटन की बहाली में वृद्धि के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। पर्यटन मंत्रालय ने 253 वर्ग मीटर का स्थान प्राप्त किया है, जिसमें 30 से अधिक प्रतिभागी प्रदर्शनी में भाग लेने के लिए भारतीय समूह के साथ सह-प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं।

8. Vigyanika, a Science Literature Festival is going to be organised during 22 & 23 January, 2023 in the IndianInternational Science Festival (IISF), MANIT, Bhopal. “Science Literature Festival” is being organised as part of the 8th India International Science Festival (IISF). The annual India International Science Festival, which is in its 8th edition this time, showcases and celebrates the fruits of science and technology. This year’s IISF is being coordinated and organised by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Science & Technology and Vijnana Bharati. 

Ø विज्ञानिका नाम से एक विज्ञान साहित्य महोत्सव, 22 और 23 जनवरी, 2023 की अवधि में  भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान महोत्सव (आईआईएसएफ), भोपाल में आयोजित किया जा रहा है। 8वें भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान महोत्सव (आईआईएसएफ) के अंतर्गत इस "विज्ञान साहित्य महोत्सव" का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। वार्षिक भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान महोत्सव; जिसका इस बार अपने 8वां संस्करण आयोजित किया जा रहा है, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी के परिणामों का प्रदर्शन करता है। इस वर्ष आईआईएसएफ का समन्वयन और आयोजन पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्रालय, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय एवं विज्ञान भारती द्वारा किया जा रहा है।

9.Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, along with PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI) in association with National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD) as a knowledge partner, organised a one-day exhibition and conference as “India Cold Chain Conclave” in New Delhi. The conference was organised with the objective to bring together all the stakeholders on one common platform where they can contribute thoughts and ideas for the growth of industry in a sustainable manner and to explore ways of reducing post-harvest losses with relevant technologies.

10.Indian Navy is set to commission the fifth Kalvari class submarine Vagir on 23 Jan 2023. Four of the Kalvari class of submarines have already been commissioned into the Indian Navy. The erstwhile Vagir was commissioned on 01 Nov 1973 and undertook numerous operational missions including deterrent patrols. The submarine was decommissioned on 07 Jan 2001 after serving the nation for about three decades. 

Ø भारतीय नौसेना 23 जनवरी 2023 को कलवारी श्रेणी की पांचवीं पनडुब्बी वागीर के परिचालन की शुरुआत (कमीशन) करेगी। कलवारी श्रेणी की चार पनडुब्बियों को पहले ही भारतीय नौसेना में शामिल किया जा चुका है। पूर्व के वागीर को 01 नवंबर 1973 को कमीशन किया गया था और इसने निवारक गश्त सहित कई परिचालन मिशन संचालित किये हैं। लगभग तीन दशकों तक देश की सेवा करने के बाद 07 जनवरी 2001 को पनडुब्बी का सेवामुक्त किया गया था।
