1.   Pakistan, Ghana and Bangladesh will be among the first recipients of funding from a G7 'Global Shield' initiative to provide funding to countries suffering climate disasters. The Global Shield, coordinated by G7 president Germany, aims to provide rapid access for climate-vulnerable countries to insurance and disaster protection funding after floods or drought. It is being developed in collaboration with the 'V20' group of 58 climate vulnerable economies.

2.“Homer” was chosen by the Cambridge Dictionary as the word of the year for 2022. When the word “homer” was a response in the word game Wordle, it was searched almost 75,000 times during the first week of May 2022. Homer is short for a home run.

3. Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurates Geo Smart India 2022 Summit in Hyderabad. About 2500 representatives from about 500 government, private, organisations working on geospatial technology have attended the three-day summit.  The theme for this year’s conference is ‘geospatial by default: Empowering Billions”, and is being co-hosted by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing and the Indian Society of Geomatics.

4.The International Paralympic Committee voted to suspend the National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) of Russia and Belarus with immediate effect, placing their para-athletes’ hopes of competing at the 2024 Paralympics in jeopardy. Athletes from the two countries had previously been barred from competing in the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics in March.

5.  Russia and Ukraine have agreed to extend the grain deal brokered by the United Nations and Turkey by another 120 days.  The deal allows grain exports from Ukrainian ports through a safe corridor in the Black Sea. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the agreement by all parties to continue the Black Sea Grain initiative. The nations that will benefit from the deal include Egypt, Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan Senegal, Rwanda, Congo, Libya, Tanzania and Namibia.

6.Government has decided to provide longer tenure to Managing Director and other whole-time directors of the public sector banks. Now the appointment can be made initially for up to 5 years, which can be extended for the same number of years. The present norms prescribe appointment for three years or till the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier. A notification has been issued on November 17 to amend Nationalised Banks (Management and Miscellaneous Provisions) Scheme, 1970.

Ø सरकार ने सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों के प्रबंध निदेशक और अन्य पूर्णकालिक निदेशकों को लंबा कार्यकाल प्रदान करने का निर्णय लिया है। प्रारंभ में नियुक्ति 5 वर्ष तक के लिए की जा सकती है, जिसे इतने ही वर्षों के लिए आगे बढ़ाया जा सकता है। वर्तमान मानदंड तीन वर्ष या 60 वर्ष की आयु तक; जो भी पहले हो, के लिए नियुक्ति निर्धारित करते हैं। इसके सम्बन्ध में राष्ट्रीयकृत बैंकों (प्रबंधन और विविध प्रावधान) योजना, 1970 में संशोधन के लिए 17 नवंबर को एक अधिसूचना जारी की गई है।

7.To foster the state's religious potential and also establish the state as the hub of religious and spiritual tourism in the country, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet recently gave approval to the New Tourism Policy. The state under the policy will develop separate religious circuits. Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Govardhan, Barsana, Nandgaon, and Baldev will be included in the Krishna circuit while the Buddhist circuit will include Kapilvastu, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Shravasti, Ramgram and other places.

Ø उत्तर प्रदेश की धार्मिक क्षमता को प्रोत्साहन देने और राज्य को देश में धार्मिक और आध्यात्मिक पर्यटन के केंद्र के रूप में स्थापित करने के लिए, उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने हाल ही में नई पर्यटन नीति को स्वीकृति दी है। नीति के अंतर्गत राज्य अलग-अलग धार्मिक सर्किट विकसित करेगा। मथुरा, वृंदावन, गोकुल, गोवर्धन, बरसाना, नंदगांव और बलदेव; कृष्ण सर्किट में शामिल होंगे, जबकि बौद्ध सर्किट में कपिलवस्तु, सारनाथ, कुशीनगर, कौशांबी, श्रावस्ती, रामग्राम और अन्य स्थान शामिल होंगे।

8.The Uttarakhand High Court will be shifted from Nainital to Haldwani. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Dehradun on Wednesday. Uttarakhand cabinet has also decided to make strict amendments in the conversion law, wherein forced conversion will now be a cognizable offence. With provision of 10 years of punishment under the new law.

Ø उत्तराखंड उच्च न्यायालय, नैनीताल से हल्द्वानी स्थानांतरित किया जाएगा। यह निर्णय देहरादून में मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी की अध्यक्षता में हुई कैबिनेट की बैठक में लिया गया है। इसके साथ ही, उत्तराखंड कैबिनेट ने धर्मांतरण कानून में सख्त संशोधन करने का निर्णय लिया है, जिसके अंतर्गत अब बलात-धर्मांतरण संज्ञेय अपराध होगा। नए कानून के अंतर्गत 10 वर्ष की सजा का प्रावधान है।

9.     Former bureaucrat C V Ananda Bose was appointed the Governor of West Bengal. Bose is a 1977 batch (retired) Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre. Manipur Governor La Ganesan had been holding the additional charge of West Bengal since July this year after incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar was nominated as the vice president candidate by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Ø पूर्व नौकरशाह सी वी आनंद बोस को पश्चिम बंगाल का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया है। बोस केरल कैडर के 1977 बैच के (सेवानिवृत्त) भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (IAS) अधिकारी हैं। मणिपुर के राज्यपाल ला गणेशन इस वर्ष जुलाई से, जगदीप धनखड़ को राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (एनडीए) द्वारा उपाध्यक्ष उम्मीदवार के रूप में नामित किए जाने के बाद से पश्चिम बंगाल का अतिरिक्त प्रभार संभाल रहे थे।

10. Federal Bank has tied up with JCB India to finance the prospective buyers of heavy construction equipment and boost its loan portfolio. This arrangement will boost the financing options for JCB's customers in India. Under the arrangement, Federal Bank is the preferred finance partner of the construction equipment manufacturer, where JCB's customers can avail loans from the lender at competitive interest rates.
