1.       In a transcending move towards green energy and commitment towards environmental stewardship, HPCL commenced its Cowdung to Compressed Biogas Project at Sanchore, Rajasthan. This will be HPCL’s first project under Waste to Energy portfolio. The plant is proposed to utilize 100 Tons per day of dung to produce biogas, which can be utilized as automotive fuel.

Ø  एचपीसीएल ने हरित ऊर्जा और पर्यावरण प्रबंधन के लिए प्रतिबद्धता की दिशा में एक उत्कृष्ट पहल के अंतर्गत राजस्थान के सांचोर में 'गोबर से संपीड़ित बायोगैस परियोजना' प्रारंभ की है। यह अपशिष्ट से ऊर्जा में परिवर्तन के अंतर्गत एचपीसीएल की पहली परियोजना होगी। बायोगैस का उत्पादन करने के लिए संयंत्र में प्रत्येक दिन 100 टन गोबर का उपयोग करने का प्रस्ताव है, जिसका ऑटोमोबाइल ईंधन के रूप में उपयोग किया जा सकता है।

2.       Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy successfully flight-tested Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha on August 23, 2022. The flight test was carried out from an Indian Naval Ship against a high-speed unmanned aerial target for demonstration of vertical launch capability. The VL-SRSAM system has been indigenously designed and developed by DRDO.

Ø  रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (डीआरडीओ) और भारतीय नौसेना ने 23 अगस्त, 2022 को ओडिशा के तट पर चांदीपुर के एकीकृत परीक्षण रेंज (आईटीआर) से कम दूरी की सतह से हवा में मार करने वाली मिसाइल (वीएल-एसआरएसएएम) के लंबवत प्रक्षेपण का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया है। लंबवत प्रक्षेपण क्षमता के प्रदर्शन के लिए एक उच्च गति वाले मानव रहित हवाई लक्ष्य के विरुद्ध भारतीय नौसेना के पोत से यह परीक्षण किया गया है। डीआरडीओ ने इस वीएल-एसआरएसएएम प्रणाली को स्वदेशी रूप से डिजाइन और विकसित किया है।

3.       The 71st Inter Service Aquatics Championship for the year 2022 is being held at Command Swimming Pool, Headquarters Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. The annual Championship is conducted under the aegis of the Services Sports Control Board and aims to select Services sportsmen for representation in National and thereafter International aquatics events.

Ø  वर्ष 2022 के लिए 71वीं इंटर सर्विस एक्वेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप; कमांड स्विमिंग पूल, मुख्यालय पूर्वी नौसेना कमान, विशाखापत्तनम में आयोजित की जा रही है। यह वार्षिक चैंपियनशिप, सर्विसेज स्पोर्ट्स कंट्रोल बोर्ड के तत्वावधान में आयोजित की जाती है और इसका उद्देश्य राष्ट्रीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जलीय विज्ञान आयोजनों में प्रतिनिधित्व के लिए सेवा खिलाड़ी का चयन करना है।

4.       CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi organized the release function of the Special issue of its Popular Science Hindi magazine “Vigyan Pragati” on 23 august 2022. In the year 2022, this popular magazine of NIScPR has completed the glorious 70 years of spreading science among the public. The very first issue of this magazine was published in August, 1952.

Ø  सीएसआईआर-राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान संचार और नीति अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीएसआईआर-एनआईएससीपीआर), नई दिल्ली ने 23 अगस्त 2022 को विज्ञान पर आधारित अपनी लोकप्रिय हिंदी  पत्रिका "विज्ञान प्रगति" के विशेष अंक का विमोचन किया है। एनआईएससीपीआर की इस लोकप्रिय पत्रिका ने वर्ष 2022 में, जनता के बीच विज्ञान के प्रसार के गौरवशाली 70 वर्ष पूरे कर लिए हैं। इस पत्रिका का पहला अंक अगस्त 1952 में प्रकाशित हुआ था।

5.       Pritam Siwach Hockey Academy, Sonepat have topped the Phase 1 of Khelo India Women’s Hockey League (U-16), which concluded at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium. HAR Hockey Academy, Haryana took the second position, while Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy stood third. They both finished on 19 points but HAR Academy recorded a better goal difference.

Ø  प्रीतम सिवाच हॉकी अकादमी, सोनीपत ने मेजर ध्यानचंद नेशनल स्टेडियम में संपन्न हुए ‘खेलो इंडिया महिला हॉकी लीग (अंडर-16)’ के पहले चरण में शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त किया है। एचएआर हॉकी अकादमी, हरियाणा ने दूसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया है, जबकि मध्य प्रदेश हॉकी अकादमी तीसरे स्थान पर रहा। इन दोनों ने ही 19-19 अंक अर्जित किए, लेकिन एचएआर अकादमी ने बेहतर गोल अंतर दर्ज किया था।

6.       Expanding the reach of environment friendly Compressed Natural Gas, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, through an online ceremony, today inaugurated the 201st CNG station and 4th LCNG stations at Hebbal, Mysuru, Karnataka. These CNG/LCNG station have been set up by AG & P, Pratham.

Ø  पर्यावरण के अनुकूल संपीड़ित प्राकृतिक गैस की पहुंच का विस्तार करते हुए, पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्री श्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी ने एक ऑनलाइन समारोह के माध्यम से हेब्बल, मैसूर, कर्नाटक में 201वें सीएनजी स्टेशन और चौथे एलसीएनजी स्टेशन का उद्घाटन किया है। ये सीएनजी/एलसीएनजी स्टेशन एजी एंड पी, प्रथम द्वारा स्थापित किए गए हैं।

7.       On the night of 22 to 23 August 1791, in Saint Domingue, today the Republic of Haiti, saw the beginning of the uprising that would play a crucial role in the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade. It is against this background that the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is commemorated on 23 August each year.

8.       World Water Week (23rd August-01st Sep) is the leading conference on global water issues, held every year since 1991. The Week attracts a diverse mix of participants from many professional backgrounds and every corner of the world.

9.       External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Asuncion, Paraguay. He appreciated the Asuncion Municipality’s decision to locate it at the prominent waterfront of the city.

Ø  विदेश मंत्री डॉ. एस जयशंकर ने पराग्वे के असुनसियन में महात्मा गांधी की एक प्रतिमा का अनावरण किया है। उन्होंने, शहर के प्रमुख तट पर इस प्रतिमा को लगाने के लिए असुनसियन नगर पालिका के निर्णय की सराहना की है।

10.   The first indigenously-developed RT-PCR kit for testing monkeypox disease has been launched in India. The kit, unveiled by Principal Scientific Adviser to the Centre Ajay Kumar Sood, has been developed by Transasia Bio-Medicals. This Monkeypox Testing Kit is highly sensitive and is easy to use.

Ø  भारत में मंकीपॉक्स रोग के परीक्षण के लिए स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित पहला RT-PCR किट लॉन्च किया गया है। केंद्र सरकार के प्रधान वैज्ञानिक सलाहकार अजय कुमार सूद द्वारा अनावरण की गई किट को ट्रांसएशिया बायो-मेडिकल्स द्वारा विकसित किया गया है। यह मंकीपॉक्स परीक्षण किट अत्यधिक संवेदनशील है और उपयोग में आसान है।
