1. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Reliance-backed Viacom-18 network has bagged the broadcasting rights of the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 Youth Olympics (to be held in China) for the Indian subcontinent. This includes the markets of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Viacom 18 had won the broadcast rights of the recently-concluded FIFA World Cup for Rs 450 crore.

2.The current surge in Covid-19 infections in China is believed to be driven by the BF.7 sub-variant of Omicron that is circulating in that country. This isn’t the first time that BF.7 has made news — in October, it started to replace the variants that were then dominant in the United States and several European countries. The BF.7 is the same as BA.5.2.1.7, which is a sub-lineage of the Omicron sub-lineage BA.5.

3.The Annual Navy Education Society (NES) Conference 2022 was conducted at Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala on 19 & 20 Dec 22. The conference included conduct of Academic Advisory Committee, Management Advisory Committee and Executive Committee meetings to discuss varied issues of academic and administrative nature.  On this occasion, schools were also awarded with NES Rolling Trophies for academic excellence. A guided tour of the Indian Naval Academy was also organised for all delegates as a part of this conference.

Ø वार्षिक नौसेना शिक्षा सोसाइटी (एनईएस) सम्मेलन 2022 का आयोजन 19 और 20 दिसंबर 22 को भारतीय नौसेना अकादमी एझिमाला में किया गया था। इस सम्मेलन में शैक्षणिक और प्रशासनिक प्रकृति के विभिन्न मुद्दों पर चर्चा करने के लिए अकादमिक सलाहकार समिति, प्रबंधन सलाहकार समिति और कार्यकारी समिति की बैठकों का आयोजन शामिल था। इस अवसर पर स्कूलों को शैक्षणिक उत्कृष्टता के लिए एनईएस रोलिंग ट्राफी से भी सम्मानित किया गया था। इस सम्मेलन के एक भाग के रूप में सभी प्रतिनिधियों के लिए भारतीय नौसेना अकादमी का एक निर्देशित दौरा भी आयोजित किया गया था।

4.Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has become the only Indian to be named in an international list of 50 greatest actors of all time by a prominent British magazine. The 57-year-old actor is included in Empire magazine's list which also recognises Hollywood giants like Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Anthony Marlon Brando, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and many others.

5. Aloke Singh, the incumbent CEO of Air India Express, will helm the group’s low-cost airline that is set to be created by merging AirAsia India with Air India Express. AirAsia India’s CEO Sunil Bhaskaran will assume leadership of AI’s training academy - a new initiative the airline is undertaking. Last month, Air India bought out budget carrier AirAsia India by purchasing the balance 16.3% stake held by Malaysia’s AirAsia Aviation Group in the Tata group joint venture.

6.The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Headquarter in New Delhi has won the prestigious GRIHA Exemplary Performance Award 2022, a top national level Green Building Award. GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) is a national rating system for green buildings in India. UIDAI HQ has been declared a winner among the existing highest rated building category. The nominations for this award were invited in the month of October 2022 from GRIHA rated buildings across the country. UIDAI HQ building participated in the said competition in which 100-point rating system was considered across 34 criteria.

Ø नई दिल्ली में भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (यूआईडीएआई) मुख्यालय ने प्रतिष्ठित गृह अनुकरणीय प्रदर्शन पुरस्कार 2022 जीता है, जो एक शीर्ष राष्ट्रीय स्तर का ग्रीन बिल्डिंग अवार्ड है। GRIHA (ग्रीन रेटिंग फॉर इंटीग्रेटेड हैबिटेट असेसमेंट) भारत में हरित भवनों के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय रेटिंग प्रणाली है। यूआईडीएआई मुख्यालय को वर्तमान में उच्चतम रेटिंग वाली भवन श्रेणी में विजेता घोषित किया गया है। इस पुरस्कार के लिए नामांकन अक्टूबर 2022 में देश भर में ग्रिहा रेटेड इमारतों से आमंत्रित किए गए थे। यूआईडीएआई मुख्यालय भवन ने उक्त प्रतियोगिता में भाग लिया जिसमें 34 मानदंडों के अंतर्गत इस पर100 अंक की रेटिंग प्रणाली के आधार पर विचार किया गया था।

7. Morocco was rewarded by FIFA with hosting rights for the next Club World Cup in February. European champion Real Madrid, South American champion Flamengo and Seattle Sounders will play in the traditional seven-team tournament from February 1-11. The country will now stage the next global football event in six weeks' time, FIFA's ruling council decided.

Ø मोरक्को को फीफा द्वारा फरवरी में अगले क्लब विश्व कप के लिए मेजबानी के अधिकार के लिए पुरस्कृत किया गया है। यूरोपीय चैंपियन रियल मैड्रिड, दक्षिण अमेरिकी चैंपियन फ्लैमेंगो और सिएटल साउंडर्स 01-11 फरवरी तक आयोजित होने वाले पारंपरिक सात-टीम टूर्नामेंट में खेलेंगे। फीफा की सत्तारूढ़ परिषद ने निर्णय लिया है  कि यह देश छह सप्ताह के समयावधि वाले अगले वैश्विक फुटबॉल कार्यक्रम का आयोजन करेगा।

8.Tamil author M. Rajendran, Telugu writer Madhuranthakam Narendra and Sanskrit Poet Janardan Prasad Pandey ‘Mani’ were among 23 litterateurs awarded the Sahitya Akademi Awards for 2022. The Bhasha Samman was awarded to Udaya Nath Jha for his valuable contribution to the field of classical and medieval literature in the eastern region. Seventeen books were selected for the translation awards which included Yaad Vashem by N. Nallathambi and Akupacha Kavithalu by Varala Anand.

Ø तमिल लेखक एम. राजेंद्रन, तेलुगु लेखक मधुरंथकम नरेंद्र और संस्कृत कवि जनार्दन प्रसाद पांडे 'मणि' उन 23 साहित्यकारों को वर्ष 2022 के लिए साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया है। भाषा सम्मान; उदय नाथ झा को शास्त्रीय और पूर्वी क्षेत्र में मध्यकालीन साहित्य के क्षेत्र में उनके बहुमूल्य योगदान के लिए दिया गया है। अनुवाद पुरस्कारों के लिए 17 पुस्तकों का चयन किया गया था, जिसमें एन. नल्लथम्बी द्वारा याद वाशेम और वराला आनंद द्वारा अकुपचा कविथालु शामिल थे।

9.The U.N. Security Council has adopted its first ever resolution on Myanmar in 74 years to demand an end to violence and urge the military junta to release all political prisoners, including ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Ms. Kyi has been a prisoner since the army toppled her government almost two years ago and violently cracked down on dissent. The 15-member council has long been split on how to deal with the Myanmar crisis with China and Russia arguing against strong action. They both abstained from the vote, along with India. The remaining 12 members voted in favor.

Ø संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद ने हिंसा को समाप्त करने की मांग करने और अपदस्थ नेता आंग सान सू की सहित सभी राजनीतिक कैदियों को रिहा करने के लिए सैन्य सरकार से आग्रह करने के लिए 74 वर्षों की समयावधि में म्यांमार पर अपना पहला प्रस्ताव अपनाया है। सुश्री आंग की, लगभग दो वर्ष पहले सेना द्वारा उनकी सरकार को गिराए जाने के बाद से एक कैदी हैं। म्यांमार संकट से निपटने के तरीके पर 15 सदस्यीय परिषद लंबे समय से विभाजित है और चीन और रूस कड़ी कार्रवाई के विरुद्ध बहस कर रहे हैं। दोनों देश और भारत मतदान से अनुपस्थित रहे। शेष 12 सदस्यों ने पक्ष में मतदान किया है।

10.The Assam cabinet has approved the proposal for grant of industry status to the tourism sector in the state, to boost investments and generate employment. With the grant, restaurants, cafeterias, health clubs, spas and wellness centers, among others, are eligible for incentives under the industrial policy. This move will further encourage and boost private investment in the above areas of the tourism sector. The newly-implemented policy aims for sustainable and environmentally friendly investment besides capital formation and the creation of gainful employment.
