1.Cyclone Sitrang ploughed into heavily populated, low-lying parts of Bangladesh, killing at least nine people. Cyclone Sitrang quickly degraded into a deep depression after crossing Bangladesh, and it had further degraded into a low-pressure region. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura may experience widespread moderate to heavy rainfall due to the system, which is now moving towards northeastern areas of India.

Ø  चक्रवात सितरंग ने बांग्लादेश के भारी आबादी वाले निचले इलाकों में प्रवेश किया है, जिसके कारण कम से कम नौ लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई है। बांग्लादेश को पार करने के बाद चक्रवात सितरंग तेजी से एक गहरे दबाव-क्षेत्र में परिवर्तित हो गया और बाद में यह एक कम दबाव वाले क्षेत्र में बदल गया था। असम, अरुणाचल प्रदेश, मेघालय, मिजोरम और त्रिपुरा में इस चक्रवात-प्रणाली के कारण व्यापक-मध्यम से भारी वर्षा तक हो सकती है, जो अब भारत के उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्रों की ओर बढ़ रही है।

2. Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposed a penalty of Rs 936.44 crore on Google for abusing its dominant position with respect to its Play Store policies, apart from issuing a cease-and-desist order. The commission also directed Google to modify its conduct within a defined timeline. This includes allowing mobile app developers to use third-party payment services on its app store.

Ø  भारतीय प्रतिस्पर्धा आयोग ने एक संघर्ष-विराम आदेश जारी करने के साथ ही, प्ले स्टोर नीतियों के संबंध में अपनी प्रमुख स्थिति का दुरुपयोग करने के लिए Google पर 936.44 करोड़ रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया है। भारतीय प्रतिस्पर्धा आयोग ने Google को एक निर्धारित समय सीमा के भीतर अपने आचरण को संशोधित करने का भी निर्देश दिया है। इसमें मोबाइल ऐप डेवलपर्स को अपने ऐप स्टोर पर तृतीय-पक्ष भुगतान सेवाओं का उपयोग करने की अनुमति देना शामिल है।

3. Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal launched “Main Bhi Subhash'' campaign from Leh. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose-INA Trust in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture is organizing a series of events on the occasion of Netaji's 125th Birth Anniversary on 23rd January next year. Mr. Namgyal also inaugurated an exhibition on Netaji at Boys Higher Secondary School in Leh.

Ø  लद्दाख के सांसद जामयांग सेरिंग नामग्याल ने लेह से "मैं भी सुभाष" अभियान प्रारम्भ किया है। नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस-आईएनए ट्रस्ट संस्कृति मंत्रालय के सहयोग से अगले वर्ष 23 जनवरी को नेताजी की 125वीं जयंती के अवसर पर कई कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन कर रहा है। श्री नामग्याल ने लेह के बॉयज हायर सेकेंडरी स्कूल में नेताजी पर एक प्रदर्शनी का भी उद्घाटन किया है।

The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released the press note on Employment Outlook of the country covering the period September, 2017 to August, 2022 based on the administrative records available with selected government agencies to assess the progress in certain dimensions.

5. Leading stock brokerage firm, HDFC Securities, announced the opening of the first-ever Women-Only Digital Centre (DC) in India. This pioneering centre, staffed with a team of women, will serve both male and female investors. This closely follows the company’s announcement regarding the opening of multiple DCs across India to ease access to services and promote digital adoption.

Ø  प्रमुख स्टॉक ब्रोकरेज फर्म, एचडीएफसी सिक्योरिटीज ने भारत में पहली बार केवल महिलाओं के लिए डिजिटल केंद्र (डीसी) खोलने की घोषणा की है। महिलाओं की एक टीम के साथ कार्यरत यह अग्रणी केंद्र पुरुष और महिला, दोनों निवेशकों की सेवा करेगा। यह सेवाओं तक पहुंच को सुलभ बनाने और डिजिटल माध्यम अपनाने को प्रोत्साहन देने के लिए भारत भर में कई डीसी खोलने के सन्दर्भ में कंपनी द्वारा की गई पूर्व-घोषणा के अंतर्गत किया जा रहा है।

6. As a precursor to its centenary year in 2023-24, Karnataka Bank has launched a term deposit scheme -- ‘KBL Centenary Deposit Scheme’ -- with effect from October 17. This deposit will be for a period of 555 days with interest rate of 7.20 per cent. The rate of interest will be 7.60 per cent for senior citizens.

7. The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) announced former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh as their brand ambassador for the 3rd T20 World Cup for the Blind to be held in India in December. I. Ajay Kumar Reddy B2 (Andhra Pradesh) will lead the Indian team while Venkateswara Rao Dunna - B2 (Andhra Pradesh) will be the vice-captain. The World Cup matches will be held from December 6 to 17.

8. Money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has put Myanmar on the "black list" and has called on members to apply enhanced due diligence to business relations and transactions in Myanmar. Myanmar has entered the FATF's high-risk jurisdictions list, often referred to as the 'black list'.

9. Chinese President Xi Jinping was re-elected general secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the committee’s first plenary session. The session, presided over by Xi, was attended by 203 members of the CPC Central Committee and 168 alternate members.Xi, 69, was also named chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission (CMC), the overall high command of the Chinese military at the session.

Ø  चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग को चीन की कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी (सीपीसी) की 20वीं केंद्रीय समिति के पहले पूर्ण सत्र में फिर से महासचिव चुना गया है। शी की अध्यक्षता वाले सत्र में सीपीसी केंद्रीय समिति के 203 सदस्यों और 168 वैकल्पिक सदस्यों ने भाग लिया था। 69 वर्षीय शी को अधिवेशन में सीपीसी केंद्रीय सैन्य आयोग (सीएमसी) का अध्यक्ष भी नामित किया गया था, जो चीनी सेना का सबसे बड़ा कमांड प्रमुख होता है।

10. A new Guinness World Record for the 'largest display of oil lamps' was set when more than 15.76 lakh earthen lamps were lit at the 'Ram ki Paidi' during the Uttar Pradesh government's Deepotsav celebrations in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on the eve of Diwali. It is noteworthy that as many as 1.71 lakh lamps were lit in 2017, the year Deepotsav started in Uttar Pradesh under the Uttar Pradesh government. Since then the number is continuously increasing to 3.01 lakh in 2018, 4.04 lakh in 2019, 6.06 lakh in 2020, and 9.41 lakh in 2021.

Ø  उत्तर प्रदेश के अयोध्या में दिवाली की पूर्व संध्या पर उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार के दीपोत्सव समारोह के दौरान 'राम की पैड़ी' में 15.76 लाख से अधिक मिट्टी के दीये जलाए जाने पर 'तेल के दीयों के सबसे बड़े प्रदर्शन' के लिए एक नया गिनीज वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड बनाया गया है। उल्लेखनीय है कि उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार के अंतर्गत उत्तर प्रदेश में जिस वर्ष दीपोत्सव की शुरुआत हुई थी, उस वर्ष 2017 में 1.71 लाख दीपक जलाए गए थे। तब से यह संख्या लगातार बढ़ते हुए 2018 में 3.01 लाख, 2019 में 4.04 लाख, 2020 में 6.06 लाख और 2021 में 9.41 लाख तक पहुँच गई है।
