1. On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which was marked as 'Good Governance Day' across the country, a star named after the shri Vajpayee. The distance of the star from Earth is 392.01 light years. It is the closest star to the Sun. After coming to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a mark of tribute to the former Prime Minister, declared that December 25 would be celebrated as 'Good Governance Day' every year.

2. Dharmadam in Kerala has achieved the position of complete library in India, the first in India. Out of the total 138 wards in the constituency, there were no libraries in 63 wards. Dharmadam reached the achievement with the opening of libraries in these wards too. Complete librarianisation was made possible with the support of all sections of the people of the constituency.

3. The Reserve Bank of India has approved the re-appointment of Baskar Babu Ramachandran as the MD & CEO of Suryoday Small Finance Bank for three years effective January 23, 2023. Babu, the founder and MD & CEO of Suryoday SFB, sold bank’s 50 lakh shares on December 16 for ₹55.44 crore to close a loan for exercising warrants to maintain the promoter’s stake at the minimum of 26 per cent for the first 5 years.

4.The Government of India has officially recognised 'E-Sports' (Electronic Sports) as a part of multi-sports events in India. According to a notification, E-Sports will now be a part of the "multisports event" category in India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in exercise of the powers "conferred by clause (3) of article 77 of the Constitution" amended the rules governing Esports and asked the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Sports Ministry to include "e-Sports as part of multi-sports events". E-Sports is a form of competition using video games.

5. Lieutenant General Arvind Walia has been appointed as the next Engineer-in-Chief of the Indian Army. He would be succeeding Lt Gen Harpal Singh who is superannuating on December 31. 6.The Ministry of Railways, as part of its station redevelopment drive, has formulated a new scheme to modernise over 1,000 small stations over the coming years. 10. Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd, has signed definitive agreements to acquire 100 per cent equity stake in METRO Cash & Carry India Pvt Ltd.
