1. Elon Musk has announced that the Twitter Blue service will come with a monthly cost of USD 8 (about Rs 660). Twitter Blue includes the coveted verified badge. The verified badge, which is essentially a blue tick, means that Twitter has confirmed that the account belongs to a person or business claiming it. The service is currently free for all; however, this would be the first time that users will be required to pay a fee to keep the verified badge.

2. Ghana will assume the rotating monthly Presidency of the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday, 1st November 2022. During the month of November 2022, Ghana shall preside over the meetings of the Council (adoptions, debates, and consultations) and, under its authority, shall represent the Security Council in its capacity as an organ of the United Nations. The Security Council, which is composed of 15 Member States, is the organ of the United Nations.

Ø  घाना मंगलवार, 1 नवंबर 2022 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की मासिक अध्यक्षता ग्रहण करेगा। नवंबर 2022 के माह के दौरान, घाना; परिषद की बैठकों (अंगीकृत करने, चर्चा-परिचर्चा और परामर्श) की अध्यक्षता करेगा और, इसके अधिकार के अंतर्गत, संयुक्त राष्ट्र के एक अंग के रूप में अपनी क्षमता में सुरक्षा परिषद का प्रतिनिधित्व करेगा। सुरक्षा परिषद, जिसके अंतर्गत 15 सदस्य देश हैं, संयुक्त राष्ट्र का एक अंग है।

3. The Karnataka government conferred the ‘Karnataka Ratna’ award on late actor Puneeth Rajkumar during an event held at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. The highest civilian award of the state was received by Puneeth Rajkumar’s wife Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar. Puneeth Rajkumar is the ninth recipient of the award.

4. The Income Tax Department has launched the HARIT Aaykar (Hariyali Achievement Resolution by Income Tax) initiative. Under this initiative, the Department resolves to increase the green cover by planting trees and creating micro-forests in and around Income Tax Department's buildings and other public areas.

5. ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute has got its first-ever woman director in over a century of the institution's existence. Dr G Hemaprabha was appointed Director of the institute up to 2024 on the recommendations of the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi, under the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare. Hemaprabha is the first woman director of the 111-year-old institution.

6. International Open Access Week is celebrated worldwide to create awareness about open-access scholarly publishing among researchers and publishers by CSIR-NIScPR. It is celebrated globally during the last full week of October. To highlight the different aspects and opportunities of the Open Access Publishing, different outreach activities are organized including talks, seminars, symposia, or the announcement of open-access mandates or other milestones in open access.

7. SpaceX launched its mega Falcon Heavy rocket for the first time in more than three years, hoisting satellites for the military. This was SpaceX’s fourth flight of a Falcon Heavy, currently the most powerful rocket in use. The first, in 2018, launched SpaceX chief Elon Musk’s red Tesla convertible; the next two Heavy launches followed in 2019.

8. A fish museum, the first of its kind in the Northeast, would soon be built in Arunachal Pradesh. The museum would be a part of the Integrated Aqua Park (IAP), sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Fisheries. The existing Tarin Fish Farm (TFF), located at high-altitude Bulla village, would be upgraded as the IAP where the museum would come up. It will have all fish species of the state and serve as a training centre for fisherfolks.

9. The government collected Rs 1.52 trillion as goods and services tax (GST) in October, a 16.6 per cent rise year-on-year, driven by festival-related spending, higher tax rates, and better compliance. This was the second-highest monthly collection since the implementation of the indirect tax regime in July 2017. GST collection touched a record high of Rs 1.67 trillion in April.

10. Export-Import Bank of India (India Exim Bank) has concluded a Master Risk Participation Agreement for supporting trade transactions with FirstRand Bank (FRB) Limited.  The agreement was signed in Johannesburg on the sidelines of the India - Southern Africa Regional Conclave. The agreement has been signed under India Exim Bank’s latest trade facilitation initiative, the Trade Assistance Programme.

Ø  भारतीय निर्यात-आयात बैंक (इंडिया एक्ज़िम बैंक) ने फर्स्टरैंड बैंक (एफआरबी) लिमिटेड के साथ व्यापार लेनदेन का समर्थन करने के लिए एक व्यापक जोखिम भागीदारी समझौता किया है। इस समझौते पर जोहान्सबर्ग में भारत-दक्षिणी अफ्रीका क्षेत्रीय सम्मेलन के दौरान हस्ताक्षर किया गया है। भारत एक्ज़िम बैंक की नवीनतम व्यापार सुविधा पहल, 'व्यापार सहायता कार्यक्रम' के अंतर्गत इस समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं।
