The month-long Khadi Fest- 23 was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Mr. Manoj Kumar in Mumbai yesterday.  The Khadi Fest will run until the 24th of February 2023 at the KVIC Headquarters in Vile Parle. The fest will showcase apparel made of Khadi, Pashmina, Kalamkari, Phulkari, Tussar silk, etc while Dry-fruits, Tea, Kahwa, Honey, Bamboo Products, Carpets, Aloe Vera Products and others will be up for sale. 

The first G20 Energy Transition Working Group meeting under India’s Presidency will be held in Bengaluru from February 5th to 7th. The delegates from G20 countries and guest countries will be part of the Working Group. In addition, leading, international organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United National Development Program, International Energy Agency, Clean Energy Ministerial, and International Solar Alliance among others will send its representatives for the meeting.

President Droupadi Murmu will address the 31st Foundation Day of the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi on 31st January 2023. The theme of the program is ‘Sashakt Nari Sashakt Bharat’. NCW was founded in January 1992 as a statutory body under the National Commission for Women Act, of 1990. It was established to review the constitutional and legal safeguards for women, recommend remedial legislative measures, facilitate the redressal, of grievances, and advise the Government on policy matters affecting women.

Veteran India opener Murali Vijay announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket to explore new opportunities in the world of cricket and the business side of it. He last played for India in December 2018 during the Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia. Murali appeared in 61 Tests, 17 ODIs and nine T20Is for India.  He scored 3982 runs in Tests with 12 centuries and 15 fifties, 339 runs in ODIs with a solitary half-century and 169 runs in T20Is.

Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh will take over as the new Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force, succeeding incumbent Air Marshal Sandeep Singh. Currently serving as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command, Singh's Indian Air Force journey dates back to 1984. Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF on December 21, 1984. Before taking charge of the prestigious Central Air Command (CAC), he was a Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command.

Luminous Power Technologies announced its plan to build the country's first green energy-based solar panel manufacturing facility in Uttarakhand. The new manufacturing plant located in Rudrapur is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year, a company statement said. The state-of-the-art facility will be equipped with the latest technology to design and produce high-quality solar panels that will be used for both residential and commercial applications, it stated.

Coal India Limited to launch M-Sand Project under Broader Schemes. Coal India Limited (CIL) has anticipated processing the overburdened rocks for sand production in mines where fragmented rock or Overburden (OB) material contains about 60 percent sandstone. During the Process of Opencast mining, the overlying soil and rocks are removed as the waste to extract coal and OB is heaped in dumps.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is introducing the Debbie Hockley Medal at this year's annual awards ceremony, to honor the outstanding female cricketer of the year. The medal will be the women's equivalent of the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for the outstanding male cricketer of the year and will be a regular feature at the NZC's annual awards. This year's awards will be held on March 23 in Auckland. Hockley herself will present the new award.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to launch the Aditya-L1 mission by June or July this year. Aditya-L1 is the first Indian space mission to observe the Sun and the solar corona. The Aditya-L1 mission will be launched by ISRO to the L1 orbit (which is the first Lagrangian point of the Sun-Earth system). L1 orbit allows Aditya-L1 to look at the Sun continuously. In total Aditya-L1 has seven payloads, of which the primary payload is the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC), designed and fabricated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru.

World Health Organisations' (WHO)'s World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Day is annually observed across the globe on January 30 to create awareness of the devastating impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) on the poorest populations around the world. 30th January 2023 marks the observance of the 4th World NTD Day. The theme of World NTD Day 2023 is "Act Now. Act Together. Invest in Neglected Tropical Diseases". The 74th World Health Assembly (WHA) recognized 30th January as World Neglected Tropical Disease.
