1. HDFC Bank is partnering with Microsoft in the next phase of its digital transformation. HDFC Bank will leverage Microsoft’s Azure platform to consolidate and modernize its enterprise data landscape through a Federated Data Lake to scale its information management capabilities across enterprise reporting, and advanced analytics using artificial intelligence.  The private sector lender is developing in-house IPs as well as partnering with several companies, including FinTechs, to co-create technology IPs.

2.The Reserve Bank of India has launched the Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH) which will provide useful inputs for monetary policy. In the January 2023 round, the survey will be conducted across 19 cities. The survey will be conducted in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Thiruvananthapuram. The agency; Hansa Research Group, Mumbai has been engaged to conduct the survey of this round on behalf of the central bank.

3. Odisha has won the UN-HABITAT's World Habitat Awards 2023 for Jaga Mission. Jaga Mission is the world's largest land titling and slum upgrading programme which aims at empowering the lives of slum dwellers. Earlier in 2019, Odisha's Jaga Mission had received the World Habitat Awards for its success in providing land tenure security to the slum dwellers. This is a prestigious award for project which aims to end slums in Indian state.

4.  Folk singer Maithili Thakur was appointed the state icon for Bihar by the Election Commission. Maithili Thakur, trained in Indian classical and folk music, was recently selected for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of the Sangeet Natak Akademi for her contribution to the folk music of Bihar for 2021. The ECI has approved the proposal of appointment of Maithili Thakur, folk singer as State Icon of Bihar. The singer will create awareness among the voters for their participation in the electoral process.

Ø लोक गायिका मैथिली ठाकुर को निर्वाचन आयोग ने बिहार के लिए स्टेट आइकॉन के रूप में नियुक्त किया है। भारतीय शास्त्रीय और लोक संगीत में प्रशिक्षित मैथिली ठाकुर को हाल ही में वर्ष 2021 के लिए बिहार के लोक संगीत में उनके योगदान के लिए संगीत नाटक अकादमी के उस्ताद बिस्मिल्लाह खान युवा पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया था। भारतीय निर्वाचन आयोग ने मैथिली ठाकुर की नियुक्ति के प्रस्ताव को स्वीकृति प्रदान कर दी है। लोक गायिका मैथिली ठाकुर चुनावी प्रक्रिया में भाग लेने के लिए मतदाताओं को इस विषय के लिए जागरूक करेंगी।

5.Taking an innovative step towards "humanity", Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has contributed his first salary to Chief Minister Sukhashray Sahayata Kosh. The CM's Kosh was constituted on the occasion of New Year with an outlay of Rs 101 crore, aiming to serve those who are deprived of getting higher education. It would also give them a way to lead a respectable life of dignity. The assistance will be given directly to the beneficiary's account immediately by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment on a simple application.

Ø  "मानवता" की दिशा में एक अभिनव कदम उठाते हुए हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू ने अपना पहला वेतन मुख्यमंत्री सुखाश्रय सहायता कोष में दिया है। उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने से वंचित लोगों की सेवा करने के उद्देश्य से 101 करोड़ रुपये के परिव्यय के साथ नए वर्ष के अवसर पर मुख्यमंत्री कोष का गठन किया गया था। यह वंचित लोगों को गरिमापूर्ण जीवन जीने का मार्ग भी प्रदान करेगा। सामाजिक न्याय एवं अधिकारिता विभाग द्वारा साधारण आवेदन पर तत्काल प्रभाव से लाभार्थी के खाते में सीधे सहायता राशि प्रदान की जाएगी।

6.  World Day of War Orphans is observed on 6 January to create awareness about the plight of war orphans and to address the traumatic conditions faced by them.  The French organization, SOS Enfants en Detresses, started World Day of War Orphans. The day highlights the lives of the children who were affected by the outcomes of the war and aims for the betterment of their future.  This year’s theme is “Standing Up for War-Affected Children” and is meant to focus global attention on the challenges these children face and how to best meet their needs.

Ø युद्ध के कारण हुए अनाथों की दुर्दशा के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करने और उनके सामने आने वाली दुखदायी स्थितियों को दूर करने के लिए 6 जनवरी को विश्व अनाथ दिवस मनाया जाता है। फ्रांसीसी संगठन, SOS Enfants en Detresses ने विश्व युद्ध अनाथ दिवस की शुरुआत की थी। यह दिन उन बच्चों के जीवन को चिन्हित करता है, जो युद्ध के परिणामों से प्रभावित हुए थे और इसके साथ यह उनके भविष्य को बेहतर बनाने का लक्ष्य रखता है। इस वर्ष की थीम "युद्ध प्रभावित बच्चों के लिए जागरूक होना" है और इसका उद्देश्य इन बच्चों के सामने आने वाली चुनौतियों से लड़ना और उनकी आवश्यकताओं को सर्वोत्तम तरीके से पूरा करने पर वैश्विक ध्यान केंद्रित करना है।

7. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaborative and sponsored research projects was signed between Hindustan Copper Limited and Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad. The first technical collaboration with IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, is a momentous occasion for HCL, the only copper miner in India, owning all the operating mining leases of copper ore in the nation. Presently, majority of ore production comes through underground mode only and the level of ore production is hovering around four million tonnes per annum.

Ø हिंदुस्तान कॉपर लिमिटेड और धनबाद के इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी (इंडियन स्कूल ऑफ माइन्स) के बीच सहयोगी और प्रायोजित अनुसंधान परियोजनाएं के लिए कोलकाता स्थित एचसीएल कॉर्पोरेट कार्यालय में एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं। इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी, धनबाद के साथ यह समझौता अपनी तरह का पहला तकनीकी सहयोग है, जो एचसीएल के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण अवसर है। हिंदुस्तान कॉपर लिमिटेड, भारत का एकमात्र ऐसा तांबा अयस्क खनिक है, जिसके पास देश में तांबा अयस्क के सभी कार्य व्यवसाय हैं। वर्तमान में, अधिकांश विदेशी उत्पादन अलग-अलग माध्यमों से होता है और विदेशों में उत्पादन का स्तर लगभग चालीस लाख टन प्रति वर्ष है।

8.In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Chief Minister's Residential Land Rights scheme (Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana) in a programme organised at the Bagaj Mata temple complex in Tikamgarh district. Chief Minister also gave land rights letters to the eligible beneficiaries of this scheme. Under the scheme, plots worth about 129 crore rupees were distributed to 10 thousand 918 families of Tikamgarh district today. The objective of this scheme is to provide free plots to the poor living in rural areas for building their houses.

Ø मध्य प्रदेश में मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने टीकमगढ़ जिले के बागज माता मंदिर परिसर में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री आवास भूमि अधिकार योजना (Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana) का शुभारंभ किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने इस योजना के पात्र हितग्राहियों को भूमि अधिकार पत्र भी प्रदान किए हैं। योजना के तहत आज टीकमगढ़ जिले के 10 हजार 918 परिवारों को लगभग 129 करोड़ रुपये के भूखंड वितरित किए गए। इस योजना का उद्देश्य ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में रहने वाले गरीबों को अपना घर बनाने के लिए मुफ्त प्लॉट उपलब्ध कराना है।

9. Former US astronaut Walter Cunningham, who flew to space aboard Apollo 7 in 1968 on the inaugural crewed Apollo mission, died at the age of 90, NASA said. The flight paved the way for the first human moon landing nine months later. Walt Cunningham was a fighter pilot, physicist and an entrepreneur and also he was an explorer.

Ø पूर्व अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष यात्री वाल्टर कनिंघम; जिन्होंने 1968 में अपोलो मिशन की शुरुआत करते हुए ‘अपोलो 7’ में सवार होकर अंतरिक्ष में उड़ान भरी थी, का 90 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हो गया है। इस उड़ान ने नौ माह बाद पहले मानव द्वारा चंद्रमा पर उतरने का मार्ग प्रशस्त किया था। वॉल्ट कनिंघम; एक लड़ाकू पायलट, भौतिक विज्ञानी और एक उद्यमी थे और इसके साथ-साथ वह एक महान खोजकर्ता भी थे।

10. IIT-Madras has created a ‘centre of excellence’ at a campus unit set up by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop advanced technologies for national defence and security. Called ‘DRDO Industry Academia-Ramanujan Centre of Excellence’ (DIA-RCoE), it will also work towards the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ goal in the defence sector. Set up under the ‘long-term directed research policy’ of the Defence Ministry, the centre will undertake basic and applied research in verticals like electronics and computational systems; naval systems and naval technologies; advanced combat vehicle technologies; high-power CW laser sources; and next-generation communication and networking technologies.
