1.The first meeting of the working group on G20 Financial Inclusion Indicators (GPFI) will begin in Kolkata on January 9. All the member countries, invited countries, and invited organizations like World Bank, IMF, and the United Nations will take part in the meeting. The main session will discuss Global Partnerships for Financial Inclusion. The meeting will begin with a discussion on 'Unlocking Digital Public Infrastructure for Financial Inclusion'.

Ø G20 वित्तीय समावेशन संकेतक (GPFI) पर कार्य समूह की पहली बैठक 9 जनवरी को कोलकाता में प्रारम्भ होगी। बैठक में सभी सदस्य देश, आमंत्रित देश और आमंत्रित संगठन जैसे विश्व बैंक, आईएमएफ और संयुक्त राष्ट्र भाग लेंगे। मुख्य सत्र में वित्तीय समावेशन के लिए वैश्विक भागीदारी पर चर्चा होगी। बैठक की शुरुआत 'वित्तीय समावेशन के लिए डिजिटल सार्वजनिक आधारभूत ढांचे को प्रारम्भ करना' विषय पर चर्चा के साथ होगी।

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the world's longest river cruise 'MV Ganga Vilas' from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on 13th of January. The luxury cruise will cover a distance of more than 3,200 kilometres across 27 river systems in five States in India and Bangladesh. The 51 days cruise is planned with visits to 50 tourist spots including World Heritage Sights, National Parks, river Ghats, and major cities like Patna, Sahibganj, Kolkata, Dhaka and Guwahati.

Ø प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी 13 जनवरी को उत्तर प्रदेश के वाराणसी से विश्व के सबसे लंबे रिवर क्रूज 'एमवी गंगा विलास' को हरी झंडी दिखाएंगे। यह लग्जरी क्रूज भारत और बांग्लादेश के पांच राज्यों में 27 नदी प्रणालियों में 3,200 किलोमीटर से अधिक की दूरी तय करेगा। इस क्रूज से विश्व धरोहर स्थलों, राष्ट्रीय उद्यानों, नदी घाटों और साथ ही पटना, साहिबगंज, कोलकाता, ढाका और गुवाहाटी जैसे प्रमुख शहरों सहित 50 पर्यटन स्थलों की यात्रा को 51 दिनों पूरा करने की योजना है।

3. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala inaugurated 29 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVU) and centralised call center in Thiruvananthpuram in a major step for the benefit of the livestock farmers in Kerala. These MVUs will be operated through a centralised call centre with a uniform Helpline No. 1962. It Kerala is deploying 50 MVUs in different districts.

Ø केंद्रीय मत्स्य पालन, पशुपालन और डेयरी मंत्री पुरुषोत्तम रूपाला ने केरल में पशुपालकों के लाभ के लिए तिरुवनंतपुरम में 29 मोबाइल पशु चिकित्सा इकाइयों (एमवीयू) और केंद्रीकृत कॉल सेंटर का उद्घाटन किया है। इन एमवीयू को एक समान हेल्पलाइन नंबर 1962 के साथ एक केंद्रीकृत कॉल सेंटर के माध्यम से संचालित किया जाएगा। वर्तमान में, केरल विभिन्न जिलों में 50 एमवीयू स्थापित कर रहा है।

4. India will take over the leadership of the Asian Pacific Postal Union (APPU); an intergovernmental organization of 32-member countries of the Asian-Pacific region, having its Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand from this month. Following the successful elections held during the 13th APPU Congress held in Bangkok during August- September 2022, Dr. Vinaya Prakash Singh will take over the charge of Secretary General of the Union.

5.   Jalna district police and Nagpur city police in Maharashtra have bagged the Best Police Unit awards for 2021 in the state under different classes for maintaining law and order, use of modern technology, evolving community policing and administration. The Jalna police got the award in Class A and the Nagpur police in Class B.  In Class A, Raigarh district police got the second-best police unit award.

6. Two Indian airports, Bengaluru and Delhi, have featured in the list of top ten global airports in terms of on-time performance (OTP). Similarly, three Indian airlines — IndiGo, AirAsia India, and Vistara — have been listed among the top ten airlines in Asia-Pacific. On-time arrival performance was used to rank airlines, and on-time departure performance was used to rank airports.

7.     India eclipsed Japan in auto sales last year, according to the latest industry data, making it the third-largest auto market for the first time. India's sales of new vehicles totalled at least 4.25 million units topping the 4.2 million sold in Japan. In 2021, China continued to lead the global auto market, with 26.27 million vehicles sold. The U.S. remained second at 15.4 million vehicles, followed by Japan at 4.44 million units.

8.   Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur launched the themes of Y20 summit, logo, and website in the Curtain raiser event of Y20 Summit India in New Delhi. India is hosting the Y20 summit for the first time. Panel Discussion on "How India can harness its youth population to be a superpower" was also held in the session.

9.     Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or NRI Day is formally observed on 9 January to celebrate the day when Mahatma Gandhi returned from South Africa to Mumbai, India. The day is celebrated to acknowledge the contribution of the non-resident Indian community in helping in the development of the country. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 has conducted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from 8–10 January, 2023. The official theme of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023 is “Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal.”

10. Maharatna central public sector undertaking (CPSE), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, under the Union ministry of power, has ranked first in the services sector, in the Public Enterprises Survey 2021-22 by Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance. Power Grid Corporation of India has also been ranked third amongst the top ten profit making Central Public Sector Enterprises in the survey. The DPE survey is a unique data repository to measure the progress and contribution of the CPSES to the economy.
