Exam Pattern:

The selection for RBI Grade B Officers is done through a country-wide competitive Examination in three phases i.e. Preliminary and Main examination followed by Psychometric Test & Interview.

Phase 1 Pattern:

  • The Phase 1 examination or the preliminary examination is a single paper comprising 200 Questions and 200 Marks.
  • The overall duration of this paper is 120 minutes i.e. 2 hours. Please note that there is sectional timing as well.
  • There is a penalty of ¼ for wrong answers.
  • It contains multiple choice questions on the subjects viz. General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning ability.
  • Candidates need to secure separate cut-off in each section as well as clear the overall cut off to be shortlisted for Phase II.
  • Marks obtained in Phase I are used only for shortlisting the candidates for Phase II examination process and are not counted for final selection of the candidates.

Phase 2 Pattern:

The Phase 2 examination of RBI Grade B consists of 3 papers of 100 Marks each. 

In Paper-I and Paper-III, 6 descriptive questions are asked out of which only 4 are supposed to be answered (2 Questions of 15 marks and 2 questions of 10 marks each)

Phase 3 Pattern:

The Phase-III of the RBI Grade B examination consists of a Psychometric Test followed by Interview.

  • Candidates are required to undergo Psychometric Test before appearing for the Interview. It is qualifying in nature and no marks are allotted for it.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on their Phase 2 marks only (sum of all 3 papers).
  • Interview carries a weightage of 75 marks.
  • Candidates can opt for interview either in Hindi or English.
  • The final selection of candidates is done by adding marks secured in Phase 2 and Interview.

Minimum Education Qualification:

  • Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – (General)
  • Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation / Equivalent technical qualification with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters / years

Age limit (As on May 01, 2023):

  • The RBI Grade B Minimum and Maximum age limit are as shown below along with the age relaxation for the reserved category candidates.
  • Minimum age limit: 21 years
  • Maximum age limit: 30 years
