The Staff Selection Commission will hold a competitive examination for recruitment of Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff, a General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazette, Non-Ministerial posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional Bodies/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc., in different States/ Union Territories and Havaldar, a General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post in Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) under Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. The details of the examination are as follows:
Vacancies:
There are approx. 11409 vacancies. However, firm vacancies will be determined in due course. Tentative vacancies for the posts of MTS are 10880 (approx.) and for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN are 529.

Scheme of SSC MTS 2022 Examination:
The recruitment process for the post of MTS will consist of one phase in which Computer Based Examination (CBE) will be held comprising two sessions, Session-I and Session-II.
The recruitment process for the post of Havaldar will consist of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST).
Scheme of Phase-I Examination:
SSC MTS 2022 Phase I - Computer Based Examination-Objective paper- Medium Hindi/English:
Tier-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions.
The questions will be set both in English & Hindi except for the English Language.
Computer Based Examination will be conducted in two Sessions: Session-I and Session-II and both Sessions will be mandatory to be attempted.
Not attempting any session will disqualify the candidate.

There will be no negative marking in Session-I.
In Session II, there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.

Numerical and Mathematical Ability:
It will include questions on problems relating to Integers and Whole Numbers, LCM and HCF, Decimals and Fractions, Relationships between numbers, Fundamental Arithmetic Operations and BODMAS, Percentages, Ratio and Proportions, Work and Time, Direct and inverse Proportions, Averages, Simple Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Area and Perimeter of Basic Geometric Figures, Distance and Time, Lines and Angles, Interpretation of simple Graphs and Data, Square and Square roots etc.
Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving:
The questions in this part intend to measure the candidates’ general learning ability. The questions will be broadly based on Alpha-Numeric Series, Coding and Decoding, Analogy, Following Directions, Similarities and Differences, Jumbling, Problem Solving and Analysis, Nonverbal Reasoning based on diagrams, age Calculations, Calendar and Clock, etc.
General Awareness:
Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The broad coverage of the test will be on Social Studies (History, Geography, Art and Culture, Civics, Economics), General Science and Environmental studies up to 10th Standard.
English Language and Comprehension:
Candidates' understanding of the basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. and to test comprehension, a simple paragraph may be given and question based on the paragraph to be asked.

Mode of Selection:
The recruitment process for the post of MTS will consist of Session-I and Session-II in Computer Based Examination (CBE).
The performance of the candidate in Session-I will be evaluated first and performance in Session II would be evaluated only if a candidate qualifies in Session-I.
Minimum qualifying marks in Session-I and as well as in Session-II of the Computer Based Examination are as follows:
For the post of MTS, Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in Session II of CBE.
The merit list would be prepared solely based on performance in Session-II.
For the post of Havaldar, candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:5 (vacancies: candidates) for appearing in PET/ PST and based on their performance in Session II of CBE.
The candidates who fail to qualify for PET/ PST will not be considered for the post of Havaldar. However, if the candidate is also shortlisted for the post of MTS, his candidature will remain valid for the post of MTS.
Nationality/Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
a citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 17-02-2023):
The candidates must have passed Matriculation Examination or equivalent from a recognized Board
The candidate must possess Essential Qualification on or before the cut-off date i.e. 17-02-2023.
Age limit (As on 01-01-2023):
The age limits for the posts as per the Recruitment Rules of various User Departments are:
18-25 years (i.e. candidates born not before 02.01.1998 and not later than 01.01.2005) for MTS and Havaldar in CBN (Department of Revenue).
18-27 years (i.e. candidates born not before 02.01.1996 and not later than 01.01.2005) for Havaldar in CBIC (Department of Revenue) and few posts of MTS.

Applications must be submitted only in online mode at the website of SSC Headquarter i.e. https://ssc.nic.in
candidates are required to upload the scanned documents as follows:
Details of qualifying educational qualifications like passing year, roll number, percentage/ CGPA, name of Board, etc are required.
Last date and time for submission of online applications is 17-02-2023 (23:00).
Before submission of the online application, candidates must check through Preview/ Print option that they have filled correct details in each field of the form.
Application Fee:
Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
Online fee can be paid by candidates up to 19-02-2023 (23:00 hours). However, candidates who wish to make cash payment through the challan of SBI, may make payment in cash at the Branches of SBI within the working hours of bank up to 20-02-2023 provided the challan has been generated by them before 19-02-2023 (23:00 hours).

Ques. I am in the last year of college. Can I apply for the SSC MTS exam?
Ans. Yes, the minimum qualification required for appearing in SSC MTS is 10th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
Ques. Are there any percentage criteria to apply for the SSC MTS Exam?
Ans. There are no minimum percentage criteria to apply for the SSC MTS exam.
Ques. Is there any negative marking in SSC MTS Exam?
Ans. The penalty for wrong answers depends on the session. There will be no negative marking in Session-I. In Session-II, there will be negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.
